Paladin D
If that clone were to have a soul, does this mean that man can create man, artifically?
Dave
Yes, that clone would have a soul. But just because cloning could bring forth a human person with a soul doesn't mean that it SHOULD be done, of course.
Paladin D
Though some would say that if a clone were to have a soul, man is "playing God". Thus having power to bring life. But, I believe cloning will be impossible... because I doubt God will allow man to create bodies with souls. Therefore, if God were to prevent a soul from entering a clone... the clone will not function because it has no soul. Soul = Life. There are those however, will go as far as to say that the Anti-Christ is promoting cloning so he and his demons can possess their bodies.
Dave
I agree that man is playing God if he successfully clones anything. However, while God doesn't want us cloning, that doesn't mean that it would be unsuccessful for anyone who tried it. I mean, God doesn't want us using in-vitro fertilization to have kids, but couples DO succeed at conceiving in that manner. But of course, we all know the end doesn't justify the means. Crusader_4
It would have a soul out of the good mercy of God. That would be how i view it.
dUSt
If one were to be cloned, his life would not have been created by a man, but God. Man cannot create life--only God can. So, therefore, a clone's life, created by God, would have a soul.
mulls
it's not the clone's fault that it was cloned, so God would have mercy on it and love it....that would be my guess
Joseph
Man can only create the "home".....the body. It is God who breathes life into everyone and gives them a soul. I don't think it can be done 100% successfully, but it shouldn't be attempted either. Edited May 18, 2004 by Joseph
jasJis
Just because mankind can improperly use the gifts and powers God gives us to create life (conception via rape, promiscuous sex, cloning, etc.), does not mean we have ownership of the gift and powers, they still come from God and exist only at God's will. When mankind can create Matter or Energy by the power of his will only, then we would have the creative power of God. Even Satan is limited to the people, souls, matter, and energy that God alone caused to exist. A clone would have a soul. Sin of pride, once again, would disrupt and warp the gifts God gave mankind. MC Just
I have to disagree, it's blasphemy. Man setting himself up above everything that is God. It wouldnt be a human being it would be a monster.

Cloning is like artificial insemination... just because the parents make a mistake, the child surely is not at fault. To say any 'child' is a monster is very sketchy to me. Of course the Child is a Child of God. God will not refuse a child based on the abomination of his creation! Just as God does not reject any children born out of wedlock, he would not reject any other children who's origin is not pure.
ilovechrist
indeed, the clone would have a soul.... because God has mercy on the human, no matter how he was created.... but i agree with MC that it is blasphemy, trying to be God-like... course we can never accomplish what the joke says (i'm trying to remember it).. a doctor was studying in his lab when all of a sudden, he looks up at the ceiling and shouts "AHA! God, i can do ANYTHING you can do!" this alerts God, and he replies, "really... say, can you create life out of dirt?" the scientist thinks for a moment, and then says, "sure i can!", and he rushes out the door, scoops a bucketful of dirt off the ground, and runs back into the lab, and starts putting the dirt in the form he wants on a table. God chuckles, and then starts cracking up in laughter. the scientist asks him "why are you laughing? i'm doing what you asked me if i can do!!" God replies-- "ok... but that's my dirt! go find your own.."
