Papist
That could be debatable. I think it's the media that sexualizes the sport, not the outfit. All the men and women athletes of the Olympics have beautiful physiques. The other day I caught men's swimming, they had great bodies and were in itty bitty speedos. But I think the overall atmosphere of the games is one of sportsmanship and skill, not lust.
And will always be debatable b/c there is no objective definition of modesty/immodesty. It is not b/c I have lustful thoughts. It is b/c I find it revolting. The men's swimsuits are just as bad, especially how low cut they are. Makes me want to barf. I tend to look away until they are in the water. I have always made allowances for the Olympics, but it is getting harder and harder with each Olympics.
Papist
This year they changed the rules (yes, it was actually a rule), and many of the players are wearing Under Armour long sleeve shirts and/or long pantaloons.
That is good. However, I caught a glimpse the other day where that was not true. But true for the US players. Looked like the US players were wearing rash-guards. More that likely Under Armour paid the OC for that rule.
The revision was because of the weather. Watched an interview with the volleyball players and heard another report on the news before the Olympics. They news report was discussing whether or not the matches would be as popular with viewers.

They made the decision to cut softball before the 2008 Olympics, but not in time to cancel softball for 2008. And ironically the US team lost in 2008. I mean who in the HELL wants to watch Russia vs. Brazil play basketball? For realz.
