i take it back, those documents are talking more about embryos, procreation, IVF, etc. I'm not looking for that necessarily, but enhancements made on humans as adults/past the pre-born stage.

Dignitas Personae (DP), which you linked to above, has a section on gene therapy and genetic enhancements, including certain treatments that could be useful for adults. Granted, the section is short and not very in-depth.

It depends what you are specifically looking for (what type of enhancements, etc...). I'd suggest searching through the National Catholic Bioethics Center: http://www.ncbcenter.org/

Here is their link to Bioethic-related Church documents: http://www.ncbcenter...e.aspx?pid=1192
Note, DP is the newest they list. I honestly can't think of anything more recent than DP from the Vatican on such bioethical topics.

I don't know about the Vatican, but I know what Kirk would say:

Really? I think Red is trying to have a serious discussion here with a thoughtful question. And instead of adding to it, you have to post a silly Star Trek meme right out of the gate? How about showing some maturity?

Getting back to the subject: Red I think going DD or larger is not practical. That's just my opinion. I will support you whatever you decide.

Your church freinds would be like
Some people would be like :photo:

Mom's that were nursing would be all like :notworthy:

And if you were nursing, your kid would be all :cloud9:

I think Jaimie's suggestion may be a :winner:

Though FP should just

My brother is really interested in medical engineering, human enhancements, prosthetics, etc. I'd be really interested to read anything the Church has come out with on such research and developments. He's not Catholic, but I'd love to share with him the Catholic prospective on such enhancements.

If I interpret correctly, I think Red is talking about enhancements that would make the human body "better" than it already is. My brother reads up a lot on potential future technology like intentionally amputating a completely healthy arm to get a better, faster, stronger prosthetic arm as a replacement. I'm not sure that this particular route of human enhancements is what red is curious about though.

For those who are a little clueless, like me (from Wikipedia):

Human enhancement refers to any attempt to temporarily or permanently overcome the current limitations of the human body through natural or artificial means. The term is sometimes applied to the use of technological means to select or alter human characteristics and capacities, whether or not the alteration results in characteristics and capacities that lie beyond the existing human range. Here, the test is whether the technology is used for non-therapeutic purposes. Some bioethicists restrict the term to the non-therapeutic application of specific technologies — neuro-, cyber-, gene-, and nano-technologies — to human biology.

(And to those who continue to make crass remarks (especially about the female body), please quit. It is neither cute nor respectful. Silliness is great, but some have taken their "jokes" a little far lately.)

I'm reviewing this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0385535155

and in my review, i want to give a plug to Church teaching on transhumanism/human enhancements/etc.
