Anomaly
For those reasons I am holding off on anything further (and will likely get more easily hidden tattoos in the future). I do not regret any of my ink, however, nor do I regret my piercings. Each of them has taught me something and each of them holds meaning in my life today.
I was wondering what would be your comment. Facial piercings in lips or eybrows still weird me out. I've come to respect ink since my eldest has more than a dozen very meaningful and beautiful works. But I know more people with prison tats or women with unicorns or stars. Those don't tend to have much deep sentiment in my experience.
I definitely do think quality and personal significance is important in tattoos. I got my first two during a very strange time in my life; they weren't the best decisions, but they also aren't the worst ink ever. (One is a Latin phrase, the other some traditional Japenese tattooing.) My third gets compliments all the time, and holds special meaning for me. It was my favorite until the fourth and fifth came (identical, reversed, one on each foot). Those receive the most compliments of all -- even from people who, admittedly, don't care for tattoos. None of my tattoos are silly, flippant or devoid of meaning. When someone asks me why I have this one or that one or the other one, I have to ask if they want the long or short explanation. Each of them was spiritually rooted and continue to be.
