arfink
I made this image by painting over a photograph. (obviously.) The photo is of the construction of the Three Gorges Dam in China, but I converted it to a sepia tone before painting onto it. Interestingly enough, this gives it an unavoidable 19th century industrialist look, even though the dam was completed in 2012. The robot's perspective is just a tad off, the the shadows are also a bit dodgy, but overall I think it works very well and I'm looking forward to doing more work in this way. It's very fun. arfink
Well, I used GIMP to fiddle the photo into sepia tones, then went to town on it with MyPaint.

Maximilianus
The original photo is the Garthsnaid, circa 1920. Besides the obvious I made a few changes to the elements in the photo. I made an attempt to match the pixelation and noise of the original, but just left the creature mostly as is.
