Dearest Family

Despite walking a grand total of sixty miles or more up very steep inclines, black bears, an adorable baby deer running at my father and I, us both catching a sore throat thus rendering me unable to sing (I haven't sang in a week. It's killing me), and of course surviving the worst. archery class. ever, I hath survived, therefore there is no reason to cry in worry and sadness. Going to the mountains forces someone to learn about themselves and the people close to him/her. For instance, I learned I hate camping and do not find the appeal in hiking (Though I did manage to get my hiking merit badge. We did a twenty mile hike starting at five in the morning on Friday and we did it in five hours. I can barely walk), having a cold in the mountains smells of elderberries, I am very susceptible to nosebleeds at high elevations (Seriously, I had one for like thirty minutes and kept having them), and I learned I'm decent at archery. When it comes to others, I found out my dad loves pictures. He took about three hundred of them. I'll post some when he uploads them onto the computer.

Fear not, dearest family. I have survived. And there is no need to worry about this occurrence happening again, as I have made a solemn vow to never put myself through such agonizing nosebleeds and extreme leg pain again.

You misspelled phamily...

My home schooled English doesn't understand your public schooled English. What is this "p-hamily" you speak of?

Of course, if you told me some stuff about aerospace physics my brain would explode, but we're talking about the language, and let us not get into specifics...

Translation: MIkolbe and I cried every night in worry and sadness. Never leave again.

Do not worry. I will forever be here. That's a depressing thought once you think about it, but it sounds comforting for those in emotional pain, anyway.

I honestly didn't find the hiking all that hard. I kept up well and didn't have much trouble. I am actually in very acceptable shape. It took my father and I five hours and twenty minutes to reach our destination, while it took others over seven hours. I just don't find the appeal in walking around a mountain, or any other setting, anyway.

Mainly karate, but yes, yoga and pilates have a small percentage in my athletic abilities. I've been doing karate since I was four, though, so all of the credit for my athletic abilities must be given to it, but yoga and pilates help me to improve athletically.

I was praised by black belt experts, thank you.

I'm not in the best joking mood. I'm tired and in a very serious mood. I've been forced to deal with a really annoying boy scout all week who was either too busy being home sick or being terrified about the bears. I have a really funny story about him and the bears, actually, but that's for another time. Now it is due time to watch the Samurai crush the Viking with martial precision and knowledge on Deadliest Warrior as I watch in wonder at the accuracy of their archery.

Speaking of that, for people who are curious, the reason the archery class sucked is because all of it was paperwork. We had to write down everything she said, from the names of the parts of the bow to the difference between target shooting, field shooting and 3D field shooting. The first day takes two out of four of the class sessions in order to get all that done, but she wasn't able to do it effectively. We started classes on Monday and didn't get it all the paperwork done until Thursday, which is the last day of classes. Plus, she wasn't even experienced in archery. She has been a fencer for a year and figured she could convert her extensive knowledge of fencing into archery. We didn't see her shoot once and I doubt she is that good. Anyway, you have to qualify in order to get the archery merit badge, which means you need to get 160 points. For those who do not know, that is a lot. We didn't get to actually shoot a bow until we started qualifying, meaning none of us had prior experience/practice. I did the second best, getting 126 points, and the best got 161. He was one of only three boy scouts who qualified and finished the merit badge in the entire six weeks the camp went on this summer, and thousands of scouts went this year. As we were shooting, she never gave tips. She would only go "You need to shoot lower/higher" if you shot too low or high. I wanted to turn around and go "Thank goodness you're here. I couldn't tell from this angle." The archery class was so bad and ineffective that every single scoutmaster who came this week complained about it, and I'm sure the prior five weeks were not different.

Meh... Anyway, my dad said he would buy me a target and I could practice in the backyard until I'm good enough to qualify, which he said wouldn't take long considering my score.

I woke up at three thirty and four thirty the past two days, plus I hiked a lot. Also, I'm annoyed at my sore throat and stuffed nose, and at some past occurrences of the week. Hopefully doing the Rosary and then watching a Samurai kill a Viking will do me well.
