beatitude
hijack: hey ladies! if you're visually stimulated, you're abnormal, and bonus: you're also immoral, promiscuous, and darn you, you probably would like to be treated more fairly than women have been in the past! end hijack. Adrestia
He's a male prostitute in a movie that women are currently fawning over. You know, the ones who aren't visual.
It was about male strippers/dancers, there were no prostitutes, the strippers never went full monty. The Magic Mike character gave up stripping at the end of the movie. It wasn't a good movie, but women were certainly fawning over it.
Adrestia
You definitely have this wrong. I've heard this from a good number of men who consider themselves to be conservative; they have used it as an excuse to go jogging outside wearing nothing but shorts and sneakers. When I point out their hypocrisy, they call me an aberration - like I'm wrong for noticing good looking musculature. Their other female friends keep quiet for fear of being called immoral &/or promiscuous. It's just silly to think women don't notice - ever heard of Magic Mike?

Well, remember that I am speaking from a different era as I am to be 52 years old the end of this month. Back when I was a young man I was in great condition, I ran, not jogged actually ran 6 miles every morning with my peers from the boxing gym, by the way we would wear sweats. We were all in great shape at that time, I never heard a woman whistle at any of us and say " great a** " as two young girls around my sons age did when we were working on a parking lot. Now excuse me if I think this is abnormal, or promiscuos, but hey, thats just old fashioned me. So you girls are in complete agreement that you are all just as visually stimulated as men, and I thought women were the thinkers, my bad. I guess you girls have evolved into testosterone crazed beings just like men, congratulations, you've come a long way baby! ed

Adrestia, this is your first post. I see no warning as you stated I " did exactly what you warned about in your first post" did i jog wearing shorts and sneakers in front of you, or maybe its I have no idea what a " Magic Mike " is? And by the way, I respect you as a woman enough, even though I do not know you, I respect you as a woman with the potential to be a mother, to raise christian children, to be an educator, to be a loving spouse, to be a caregiver, to be all or any part of the wonderful and awe inspiring images of womanhood that God allows and enocurages women to be that I would never call you a jerk. ed
I will not blame your teachers or your parents for your failure to comprehend simple logic. If you can't figure this out, it's probably because you are not very bright.

Anomaly
Who is Magic Mike? Channing Tatum attended high school where I did, at Tampa Catholic High (though 20 years later). He was buddies with Mike Sorrentino who danced under the name of Magic Mike in Tampa (same name as the Jersey Shore 'Situation' guy. Dancer Mike is currently in jail for a few years, busted for selling drugs in Tampa.

sixpence
Yipes... intense thread! My two cents:: Men and women both find each others bodies attractive. This is NORMAL. And it isn't exactly hard to eye someone up before you even realize you did it. However, I think that many guys put more emphasis on looks; while many women put more weight on the overall picture (personality, potential, etc). Biologically, this all make loads of sense when you look at it from a behavioral ecology lense, but I won't get into that. General, normal attraction aside, I do think that women are in fact becoming more like men (in a negative way). I think the sexual revolution, radical feminism, and birth control have all combined forces, resulting in women who are NOT out looking for a stable, long term relationship leading to a family (and of course a marriage). For this reason, these women do not need to have the same standards they did in the past. Before the take over of birth control and abortion on demand, most women probably gave more thought to being promiscuous, like "hmm, what are the chances this guy will marry me or at least help raise the children if I get pregnant". I seriously doubt this even goes through the mind of most women nowadays, so standards decrease. We don't need to worry about finding a man who will be faithful and provide resources for a family, we just want to "have a good time". I think this is why we have more women wanting to "get with a hot guy", and radical feminism has made it "ok" for us to make that known. ::end rant::
franciscanheart
I'm just going to go ahead and say it: it's okay to look for a "looker". It's okay to want to be physically attracted to your partner. It's okay to be attracted to beautiful people. It's okay to not be into the idea of a relationship with someone to whom you are not physically attracted. Good looks and dependability are not mutually exclusive.

As a girl (see my photo) I would be interested in further investigating how potentially tempting these activities were to us girls. Perhaps you should publish pictures. Really the idea that sexual chemistry isn't important is incredibly gnostic.
Brother Adam
A couple of things: I think all the ladies of phatmass are amesome. I would never cross you. I think you are all beautiful, intelligent, independent women. And magic mike contains porn based on the parent guides. It doesn't have to be NC-17 (a rating which is very rare because it kills ticket sales) to be porn. You don't have to see a movie to judge that its porn. Just because something has nudity doesn't make it porn either - Schindler's List, Wages of Fear, Walkabout isn't porn, but MM really crosses that line where the human body is exploited and meant to arose the audience. As JPII said, porn shows too little of the human person, not too much. A Christian shouldn't see the movie any more than they should read 50 Shades of Grey or Girls Gone Wild. Slappo
I read the parental content of that movie on IMDB and the parental content reads like a porn film... . No one, man or woman, should be buying tickets to see that movie .
BigJon16
I'm just gonna start calling the women of Phatmass my Phatmoms. They are so loving sometimes and always offering help advice and encouragement, but not afraid to crack down on you with a metaphorical rolling pin when you get out of line. All they need next is to cuss in Italian, and it will be like one of my family reunions! I love these people.
