Well, remember that I am speaking from a different era as I am to be 52 years old the end of this month. Back when I was a young man I was in great condition, I ran, not jogged actually ran 6 miles every morning with my peers from the boxing gym, by the way we would wear sweats. We were all in great shape at that time, I never heard a woman whistle at any of us and say " great a** " as two young girls around my sons age did when we were working on a parking lot. Now excuse me if I think this is abnormal, or promiscuos, but hey, thats just old fashioned me. So you girls are in complete agreement that you are all just as visually stimulated as men, and I thought women were the thinkers, my bad. I guess you girls have evolved into testosterone crazed beings just like men, congratulations, you've come a long way baby!

I'm not sure what's more offensive about this post. Your insulting women's intelligence or generalizing all men under the title of "testosterone crazed beings."

He's a male prostitute in a movie that women are currently fawning over. You know, the ones who aren't visual.
You're kidding, right? Who would watch a movie about a male prostitute, dare I say this is an abnormal movie aimed at morally bankrupt persons? Not passing judgement on any woman, but who in their right mind would fork over $12 dollars to see an x-rated movie.

But you are passing judgement ....again....
I guess you are right, if my daughter or one of my neices told me they were going to see an x-rated movie about a male prostitute i would pass judgment to them, sometimes you have to pass judgement. By teh way you asked earlier " where did God say women had to wear bras" I ignored that as I felt you had to be joking, I am sure you realize it was not God, rather it was the deceiver that told us we should be embarrassed of the beauty of the form that God gave us.

Actually its a R rated movie, and its concerns change and the possibilities of redemption, but don't let that stop you from judging it sight unseen.

Its been fun, but alas I must retire from this thread as you all post in anonymity and i use my actual name as I say nothing I am ashamed of, yet i do not want to be part of a post with the title including " Who magic mike is.." I would hate to think someone would entertain the thought, even momentarily that I would have knwoledge of a movie about a male prostitute, sheww, whats the world coming to.

But Magic Mike is an R rated film. (Which means it probably includes less sex scenes than the pilot episode of USA's "Political Animals".)

Edit: Cmom beat me to it on the rating.

You've clearly never worn a bra before. Wearing a bra is not about being "embarrassed" about our breasts, it's about comfort and support. And clothing fitting properly. I'm surprised at you for being Mr. Modesty in all areas but this. Do you think it's modest for a woman to go without a bra in cold weather? I mean, you know what happens right.

The same thing that happens to many men... nipples are there to feed babies... so why be embarrassed about them...

Well, this is quickly turning into "dogpile on Ed Normile."

Not that he doesn't deserve it or anything...
When you say things like he says, you're asking for some people to disagree with you -- and probably strongly. He's made some pretty wild statements, and I'm surprised that anyone else is surprised by the backlash.

What possesses you to make such wild and ridiculous statements? And why, when women comment to say that we aren't what you are saying we are, do you assume we are testosterone crazed? We can have physical and emotional reactions to visual stimuli without being men, without being addicted to sex, and WITHOUT SHAME. We are not what people say we are -- not all of us -- and it's perfectly okay. God made us sexual creatures too, and despite popular teaching, a good majority actually ARE turned on by visual encounters.

There also exist men who need more than just a still image to get off. Would you believe me if I told you there are men who can't floopy a blow-up doll and be satisfied?! IT'S TRUE!!

eta: By the way, it's probably not unfair to assume that women have always been this way. It's probably just been so taboo to admit, they never have. A lot is changing, a lot of old taboo subjects are being discussed. I don't like or condone the reading of explicit material, but sometimes I wonder if we don't do ourselves a serious disservice by not talking about this more openly and in a larger form. Sex is good and we should be able to talk about it without shame or guilt or fear.

We wouldn't have nearly the number of sex columnists we have if people (1) knew more about what is ACTUALLY normal and (2) weren't so afraid to talk about sex and relationships.

Movement was spearheaded by lesbians, and I just have this feeling that lesbians are " abnormal " but again, thats just old fashioned me...
How do you feel about gay men? Do you feel threatened by lesbians? Are they the reason our nation is failing or flailing? Are you one of those strange creatures that believes all lesbian women choose to be that way? What about gay men? What else do you blame on lesbians?
I was wrong to think there were no thinkers left among women, you have come to the conclusuon that I am a rude jerk as I think lesbians are abnormal? I also see that in your haste to judge me as rude you imagined/invented I somewhere stated all young women are disrespectful, spoken like a true disciple of the american school system! Its good to see that the teachers are doing a superlative job training the youth what to think these days. Back when us rude jerks were taught, we were encouraged to learn how to think, not just accept what is taught as truth. As far as my thinking all young women are jerks, you could not be further from the truth and your ignorance of me as a father of a young independant woman, engaged to be married to a fine young catholic gentleman, having over 35 neices and growing up with 3 sisters I well know what real ladies are, and how they act and behave. perhaps in the future , before you base an inept judgement on something you thought you read, maybe you could take the time to read the post again, slowly, so you could comprehend it, and ask yourself, gee, where did he say "all young women are disrespectful". That is an amazing leap coming from a comment on two 20 something girls who flirted with my adult son.
1. I don't think the poster implied you believe all women are jerks.
2. Your generalizations make it seem as if you really believe all women have just gone nuts.
3. You said those 20-something "girls" were your son's age, so then they're adults too. Also, they're not girls; they're women.

Oh, and the American school system taught me how to use punctuation. Not a complete failure, huh?
Cmother, what part of my post are you referring too, or is it just jump on the bandwagon as I insulted the feminist movement? I mean these one-liners although cute are meaningless, and should be beneath one so offended, afterall early feminists marched, burned their bras, condemned the catholic church, and encouraged lesbian love and free sex and abortion, yet all you can offer is a cutesy retort without a single example of what I have said to draw this out of you.
1. I'd love to see you grow real boobs and wear a bra all day. Sure they burned their bras to elicit a response, but I think probably a large majority of the female population would like to burn their bras every once in a while.

2. The anger you are drawing out of so many women is mostly from some of the ignorant comments you've made. You might think that because you've grown up around a lot of women that you GET IT, but clearly you don't. You are saying some really silly things and not listening to any woman whose experience contradicts what you share as being truth.

It's not x-rated.
