havok579257
Is it acceptable to give your spouse a quick kiss on the lips at the sign of peace as opposed to a handshake or just a nod or is giving a kiss to your spouse and your children during the sign of peace unacceptable in church? cappie
No I see it every Sunday. Between husband and wife OK but not always necessary, but hardly a mortal sin The form of the sign of peace is not prescribed for the Latin rite. The invitation to make a “sign of peace†is itself an option in the Novus Ordo, left to the discretion of the priest. The priest gives a “sign of peace†as part of the rubrics. He must do it. The invitation for others to do so is an option.
CatherineM
My kids get hugs, as do some of my friends, and my husband gets a hug and kiss on the cheek. No one has given me a raised eyebrow yet, and they'd better not start if they know what's good for them.
