Hair Tips

A lot of what CLEANS hair is the friction. You'd probably croutons a brick if you heard that some people only use WATER.

I do not doubt the power of elbow grease, but I promise the contribution of mechanical motion in the hair washing process for cleaning purposes is very moderate to low when compared to the chemistry involved.

The only time I would consider friction/motion as a particularly useful method to clean would be when you need to get some really tough shit off something. This does not apply to your hair unless youre rolling in mud.

And of COURSE water helps! Its a solvent! Thats why us humans like it for thingz

But whoever told you its all friction...was either insane or lied to you for the lulz.

YUP. I'm the first one to be all "DON'T TOUCH YOUR HAIR" but then what do I do?

TOOOUUUUUUUUCCHHHHHH

What's wrong with touching your hair? I kind of do out of necessity, since as you can see my hair is combed to the side.

They mean touching it a lot throughout the day. Touching to style is necessary. After that try and keep your hands away from your head.

Touching (for curly hair) creates frizz. Frizz is bad.

But... I like playing with my hair!

I didn't say all friction, I said a lot of. Think about your washer: a lot of what's working when you wash clothes is the friction of the clothes rubbing against each other. It loosens the dirt clinging to the fibers of the clothing and the water washes it away.

Most of what works for me and my daily ACV rinse is the tips of my fingers loosening the dirt and the water washing it out. The ACV helps condition and the cool water rinse at the end helps seal up the hair.

I touch all the time when it's dry without qualms. The real problem is touching WET or DAMP hair as it creates frizz. And if you're doing any pulling, separating, other weird touching (AND you have curly hair), you risk interrupting your natural curl patterns.

Plopping

I just googled that, too. I saw a couple things that said it defines curls but makes your hair less voluminous unless you diffuse it a bit while it's damp after taking the towel off (so not sleeping with it on, but just wearing it for 10-20 mins). My hair is so long and heavy less volume at the roots is the last thing I need. lol My curls are really well defined, anyway. I don't think plopping is for me. Frannie, you'll have to let us know how it works for you! :)

Mine is the exact opposite. I can touch and scrunch and tousle as much as I need while it's wet. Anything I do after it dries causes frizz issues.

No one ever trusts the scientists :idontknow:

I view it like this:

Midwives were the standard until medicine decided to make it appear too primitive. In some cases, a special doctor is necessary. Most of the time, it's not.

This, like where and how to birth, is a personal choice. It has been proven again and again to work (for many hair types). It works for me, and I see many benefits.

(For those curious, a huge benefit for me is cost. I calculated it someplace and actually later found out I overestimated my cost for ACV. It's insanely cheap and works better than most products I used previously.)

I've been washing my hair with an orange juice/milk mixture for the last few weeks and it's been AMAZING! The juice has turned my entire head completely orange and the milk leaves my hair super smooth after each wash. I look like a silky basketball, I keep getting compliments and people are always asking me what I do to look so natural! Some people think I can go tanning all of the time because I look so orange, but I always tell them that tanning is horrible for your skin. We need to wear sunblock and wash our hair with natural juices. Now that spring has sprung I basically have bees buzzing around my head all day because of all the sugar in the juice, I just love this natural look!
