MissScripture
So, I need new glasses, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but I do want to look half way decent. Any suggestions?
LinaSt.Cecilia2772
If there is a Costco in your area, go there. They have a good vision center with good frames for a good price. That's where I get all my vision needs including my contacts.
xTrishaxLynnx
How about some free ones, then? As far as I know, there's no catch and I've heard tons of good stuff about the company and the glasses. Plus if you get the sizing a bit off, return shipping is free and from what I've read they don't charge to re-size, either. You just pay shipping. CatherineM
Mine are paid for but my biggest problem is that I hate small glasses. Some of them are smaller than half moon reading glasses. I wear bifocals so I need a bit more room. I finally picked out a pair of Ray Ban sun glasses to have made into regular glasses.
Strictlyinkblot
I find Specsavers really good. I got new glasses a week ago. Mine were £160 but that's because I got special thinned lenses. The cost includes eye test with retinal photography and a pair of prescription sunglasses. Do you have Specsavers over there?
Archaeology cat
COastal is nice. I got glasses from there, but the doc had written the prescription too strong, so I had to return them, and there was no fuss doing that.

I thought about going to Sam's Club, but insurance didn't cover the exam, there. Though I still might look at the glasses there. Now I will settle for mostly covering, or the glasses might have to cover my whole face!
I find Specsavers really good. cmotherofpirl
I go to Walmart and get mine. Lots of frames to choose from and quick service. Last time I got regular glasses, reading glasses and prescription sunglasses for $150.

IcePrincessKRS
I go to Walmart and get mine. The last time I went somewhere else I spent close to $400. They tricked me with their lies about a free second pair. That I've only worn like twice when one of the kids knocked my other pair behind my bed and I was too blind to find them without thee spare pair... (I wear contacts, too, but I'd run out for about 6 months at that point and hadn't gotten time to go in for another eye exam... when I finally went they told my my prescription basically hadn't changed. Go figure. lol)
Jaime
What I've done is go to optical shops and try on glasses until I find a pair that I like (or others like) then I write down the info and go to a place like http://www.framesdirect.com/ and buy frames there. Then I just pay for the lenses.
dUSt
These are good, and cheap too:
MissScripture
People who have bought them online- How do they fit? I mean, I always had them slightly adjusted at the optician's after I got them so they fit right. But obviously, that won't happen online. Have they fit okay, anyway? I would worry about that, because when I was younger I had issues with headaches because of how they pulled on my ears. PhuturePriest
Do you have an Eye Glass World in your area? They have a deal where if you buy one for sixty dollars they'll give you another one that is worth the same for free. I think they have this policy even if you buy a cheaper one.
there are three measurements listed on the stem of eyeglasses. Eye bridge and temple sizes. Go get fitted with an optical shop. (i.e. find a pair that fit) and write down the numbers on the stem. Then when you order, you have the opportunity to use those numbers so you are ordering the exact same pair!
