I don't notice the difference either

Sorry, I was raised on "you eat what's put in front of you" and mediocre cooking. It's the same reason I don't taste the difference between coke & pepsi, butter & margarine, olive, peanut, vegetable, & canola oils, and so on.

That's just crazy talk. :| How can you NOT notice the difference between butter and margarine? Or coke and pepsi? The oils I can understand, even the mayo thing a little bit... but butter and margarine???? It's astronomical.

If I'm baking with butter vs. margarine I will notice a texture difference but no taste difference in the final product. Other than that there's nothing.

Right. This thread. So, how do you explain why you were crazy before this thread? :harhar:

So I think what you're saying is that you don't appreciate the food that's put in front of you. You might appreciate that is is put in front of you, but you're not appreciating the flavor, certainly.

Butter is healthy, margarine is not.

And it tastes SO MUCH BETTER! Even if it wasn't healthier I would consider it worth it.
Yes! And to quote Julia "if you're afraid of butter, use cream". Want the best pancakes ever? Use double cream instead of milk.

Neither (concerning mayo or "miracle" whip)

Butter rocks. Margarine is a scam and proof society does not always advance.

Actually Miracle Whip was made to be used as a salad dressing with sweeteners in it and Mayonaise is the choice of real men and women everywhere when it comes to sammitches, especially cold turkey leftovers from T-day.

Mayo is where it's at. Miracle Whip tastes too darn sweet. At my house, we use Hellman's Light Mayo. ;)

I don't know why I'm participating in this thread because I hate both.

And this might sound a bit crazy, but I'm not a condiment type person.

There, I'm done.
