Gabriela
There's a church in my town that has weekly Taizé worship services. I've been reading about Taizé lately and I see that several Catholic bishops, cardinals, and popes have seemed to give this movement their blessing. May I attend the worship service in my town? If so, is there anything I ought to be cautious about doing there? I'm pretty sure I oughtn't take communion from them... Thanks for your help! cappie
I don't see why not. Taizé style worship centers on singing, prayer, readings from the Bible and periods of silence. Simple songs are sung in a repetitive manner to aid the worshiper in obtaining a meditative mood. Taizé worship does not incorporate a homily or Eucharist, if it were and it was not Catholic then a Catholic may not receive. Taizé worship is a service that fills an essential place in the liturgical life of a congregation, which otherwise is wordy. We need the evocative, the haunting, and the beautiful.
