Maggyie
So I am matron of honor for one of my good friends and her shower is coming up in a couple weeks! yay! One of the things we are doing is playing a couple games and giving prizes... I have some of the questions for the quiz made up but when I ran them by one of the bridesmaids she thought they were too hard.
What famous bride is said to have started the tradition of wearing white? Kim Kardashian Princess Diana Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Queen Victoria According to the superstition, a bride is supposed to carry something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and… a four leaf clover a .45 caliber pistol a silver sixpence in her shoe breath mints How many times did Elizabeth Taylor walk down the aisle? 2 times 8 times 4 times 15 times What is the most popular month for weddings? June January February October Name three wedding-related movies! Which fashion house created the wedding gown worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton? Christian Dior Alexander McQueen Vera Wang Oscar de la Renta
what do you think. I want them to be easy but not TOO easy... I would know the answers to all of these except for the Elizabeth Taylor one. I am not overflowing with prizes for these ladies so if there is a 10-way tie or something there will be trouble. I hate to mention a Kardashian at a refined occasion such as this but ah well. xTrishaxLynnx
There will probably be lots of ladies there who will get most of them with no issue at all. Are you giving a prize to the one who finishes fastest or the one who gets the most correct answers?
Lilllabettt
as a bridesmaid I feel like you must think we are all idiots. I would like to know which maid told you these were hard, so that I can tease her mercilessly. You can beef these questions up sister. do a question about say yes to the dress and the length of diana's train. or something on this junk:

The phrase, ""Often a bridesmaid, but never a bride," orgininates from a 1924 advertisement for Listerine. The Company created an ad campaign centered on the fear of bad breath in a social situation, the most popular being a commercial depicting "Edna," who at nearly 30, was still single due to bad breath.
The first weddings comprised of a groom taking his bride by capture. He would take her somewhere hidden away so her relatives and villagers couldn't find them. There they stayed for one moon phase and drank mead, a wine make from honey, to make them more amorous. Thus, the word "honeymoon" was born.
The wedding ring has traditionally been worn on the third finger of the left hand because it was believed that a vein in this finger ran directly to the heart. HopefulBride
um I would have gotten all of these questions wrong; I'm also very curious to learn what the answers to these questions are. And lilly where did you get all of these facts? I was reading and going wow, razzle dazzle, huh I didn't know that. Now I want to plan someone's shower so I can pull out these facts lol
Lilllabettt
I just googled "wedding industry trivia". I was not surprised about the money. It really IS an industry and it has convinced brides that they, their families and their friends must all blow a huge wad on items such as miniature cacti centerpieces for a tex-mex themed shower. I was surprised that the average engagement is 16 months. Obviously if something like a deployment intervenes then yeah ... but in general, why get engaged at all if you are just going to play patty-cake for more than a year? The answers are, Queen Victoria started the white dress trend, a bride carries a silver sixpence, Elizabeth Taylor has been married 8 times (twice to the same husband), June is the most popular month for weddings and Alexander McQueen did Kate's wedding gown (or rather a designer from that fashion house did; Alexander McQueen himself is dead). The average wedding in lalaland costs $26,000 and nobody has that lying around, ESPECIALLY in lalaland where unemployment is 8%.
Cherie
Make them harder!!!!! Part of the fun is having NO idea at all and guessing anyway! But yeah...no way those are too hard! Sounds like a superfun shower. Wish I could be a fly on the wall!
HopefulBride
Ridiculous how expensive weddings are. My brother's reception alone was like $10,000. The bride had two dresses... Weddings aren't about being married anymore. It's about reliving prom, quincenera, homecoming and princess day all at once.

In keeping with the afore-mentioned tex-mex theme we are going to try to do a pinata... no children at the party just a lot of grown women taking swings at a pinata after drinking margaritas.... is this a good idea... no... but we still try to do it...
