I hope everyone has a happy Independence Day.

I know it's sad, but I don't even want to go to our local celebration because I see a bunch of people who obviously don't give a toss about our country or their fellow Americans any other day of the year, so I don't believe they do on this day, either. It's just an excuse for them to party and get drunk and for most of the women (and LITTLE GIRLS :( ) to walk around scantily clad... *grumble grumble*

I guess one could argue that they're technically just exercising some of the rights they were given under the constitution, but the drunkenness usually ends up with violating laws and the rights of others.. and killing a bunch of people, so I don't see the good in that at all.

All the more reason for us to celebrate with dignity and to have even more fun than they do as a result. Huzzah for the 4th!

I know you've mentioned this before, but I've forgotten. Are you still a U.S. citizen or did you change your citizenship after you moved to Canada with your (Canadian) husband?

I'm a duel citizen. I can maintain both unless the US and Canada goes to war against each other. There are a few things I can't do like take a commission in the Canadian military. I could enlist but not be an officer. I still vote in every election. Which reminds me that I have a absentee ballot from St. Pete that needs to be sent in. Some councilmen stuff.

I just wanted to share that my family tree is very interesting. So, my great great great grandfather (not sure about the # of greats) emigreated from Ireland and then fought in the civil war. I guess fighting in the war was more appealing to him than enduring what was going on in Ireland at the time (potato famine and religious persecution). Then my grandpas on both side of the family fought in WWII and then my Dad served in the military until I was born! I think that is so cool! I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July and keep praying for the keeping of religious freedom!!! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!!
