OnlySunshine
What a wise and wonderful list! I'm going to have to make a copy. I was so smug, stubborn, and far from God that he allowed almost all the things I depended on, or was smug about. to be taken away from me: among others, my marriage, my health, my job--and now I am learning that I will have even less income to live on in the future than I expected. Even volunteering, which I loved to do, was taken away for health reasons. Slowly I realized that there was nowhere to turn but to God. I find this very scary much of the time, and I am still in the dark as to what God intends for me and why He has allowed all this to happen. Even with all that has happened to me, and how much I have changed, I am still SO far from that list. The list alone is humbling! I caution people to try to learn humility by their own choice (with God's help), starting as young as possible, because when God sees that you are so far "gone" that he allows circumstances to teach you humility against your will, it is very painful. However, I confess, the "painful way" has caused the lessons to finally, truly start to "stick" for someone as stubborn as myself.
IGGY!!! Safia
This reminds me of this poster, which I have in my room: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://arealsusiehomemaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/10-Ways.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.danlikesthis.info/2012/04/10-ways-to-love/&h=1077&w=366&sz=50&tbnid=Qod1JMmzsV5OTM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=31&zoom=1&usg=__MyEAqb-aRy6qSsJYKMV3aqqQhxM=&docid=2ogv5VCozflpPM&sa=X&ei=hLv1T_aaBqnr0gHqvKjXBg&ved=0CGQQ9QEwBg&dur=278. I'm going to have to add this list to it. It's quite accurate, and I, too, am severely lacking.

My SD, who is also my Confessor, applauds me for moments of humiliation (quite literally), and I rejoice in the growth that God allows for me. OnlySunshine
Jesus Help me. In every need let me come to you with a humble trust saying, Jesus help me. In all my doubts, perplexities and temptations, Jesus help me. In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials, Jesus help me. In failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments, troubles and sorrows, Jesus help me. When others fail me and your grace alone can assist me, Jesus help me. When I throw myself on your tender love, as my Lord and Saviour, Jesus help me. When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good coming from my efforts, Jesus help me. When I am ill and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely, Jesus help me. Always, always, in spite of weariness, falls and shortcomings of every kind, Jesus help me and never forsake me. Almighty Lord, before you I come with all my faith, begging you for comfort in my difficulties. Do not forsake me, my Lord. Open your doors, that your almighty arms will open and close as you design to give that tranquility that I so desire. Oh my God! Receive my supplication from a wounded heart that is always fighting for me with your Divine power. Never let me scramble for want of help. Almighty Lord, assist me to find shelter in your celestial bounty forever. Amen.

emmaberry
I remember Mother Teresa teaching this to us as novices. She often tested us in humility and had our Mistresses do the same. Humility is a life time challenge and learning process: for the "self" or false ego does not completely die until they shoveling dirt over us.. For my self i continue to strive even as i fall. The rest i leave to the infinite mercy of God's tender love.
You were an MOC??????? How cool!
