I've been trying to get away from pre-packaged, over processed foods, both for the cost factor and the health factor. The yum factor is a huge bonus, too. lol. I just started making sourdough bread a few weeks ago. My husband loves it, though I think it's a little stronger than I'd like, though it's good with stuff on it/in it, and I don't normally just eat plain slices of bread, so it works.

Warning: :hijack:

I know what you mean. I refuse to eat at McDonald's anymore. There's just something about having to guess what I am eating that deters me. I'm trying to eat actual food, and it is way better. I grew up with homemade noodles in soup, and there's no way anything can compare with it. My mother also makes homemade cookies, but that doesn't quite make the cut for actual food. :P

I eat plain bread, though. I don't like butter or anything. I just like bread by itself. To me if something can't stand by itself it is not worth eating. I am a huge bread fanatic, though. Always have been. I could live off bread and water. My spiritual director is the same. We both agreed that we were boring people.

I once tried to make homemade chicken noodle soup, with homemade chicken stock and homemade noodles. The noodles weren't BAD, but I made them waaaaay too thick and cut them too big, so when they expanded while they cooked, they were HUGE, 2 filled up a bowl! And the chicken stock just tasted funny. My husband liked it, but I couldn't eat more than a small bowl. I'm not sure his enthusiasm for it reflects well on me, though, since he raves about my cooking. If he'll eat that, he'll probably eat anything, so I don't know how much of a compliment it really is. lol.

The key to making noodles is rolling it over, and over, and over, and over again until it is very, very thin. Then you cut about half inch slices.

Back on topic:
Our Independence Day dinner will be a chicken and broccoli pasta salad (it's just a concoction I've made up to replace buying suddenly salads) with watermelon. So, I'm a big fan of the watermelon option.
Our dessert will be cinnamon pie.

I am too impatient. :|

You don't forge good steel by heating it once. In other words, you don't get good steel when you buy from the Chinese.

Also, flour is another important thing. Put a layer of flour under your huge mass of mixed egg and flour so when it comes time to cut and put them in the pot they don't stick to the counter.

[/quote]Love makes everything taste great. In 30 years of marriage, I only had 1 meal from my wife that I said I would prefer if she never made it again. My wife hates cooking and says she isn't good at it. Your man's a Husband like a Boss.

Taking some of the artificial flavoring out of it doesn't mean you save it from tasting terrible. :P

I repeat: freak.

It was Frank Barone the Great who said "You, my boy, are a girl." Though it has been established that calling me a girl is an insult to women everywhere. :french:

And actually, it's not my fault that you lack taste buds. I'm not even joking. From what I have been told the reason people like myself are more picky is because we have more taste buds and so our tongues are more sensitive to food.

Not entirely true. Mostly it's because you're still young.
