Vincent Vega
It's not an age thing at all. I was slugging that thing back when I was seven. Sadly I did not appreciate it properly and I only drank it because it was liquor in the physical sense.
If they're using liquor for the Precious Blood, you should call your bishop.
PhuturePriest
If they're using liquor for the Precious Blood, you should call your bishop.
Well, I've seen some things in my diocese from unleavened bread for the Eucharist to liturgical dancing. There have been many illicit and frowned upon practices here. I wouldn't be surprised if we were drinking liquor all this time. This is of course an exaggerated joke, but some here would probably see no problem with it. EmilyAnn
EmilyAnn, Would you keep us updated on what happens when/if you talk to the woman and when/if you talk with the priest? You've gotten me very interested on in what possibly could be going on.
I definitely will, but it may not be for a few weeks - I won't be at that parish this Sunday and I'm on a live-in for two weeks starting this week. Norseman82
My advice is this: since you couldn't hear what she was saying to you due to the music, use that as an opening to ask her what she was saying to you, preferably in the presence of someone you know in case she says something confrontational or harassing; that way, you will have a witness in case you need to go to your pastor. Cherie
I would be willing to bet a large amount of money that she didn't think you were Catholic because of your choice of head covering. While most Catholics, even if they have never seen them in person, are aware that some women wear lace veils, most people nowadays associate head scarves with Muslims. Seriously...the question she probably asked you that you couldn't hear was "Are you Catholic." The fact that she gave you Holy Communion before and didn't ask the question then is probably testament to the fact that many EMHCs don't know what to do in those situations. Seriously...I'm sure she was just confused by your scarf and thought you were a Muslim trying to receive Holy Communion.
