Help Me Shop.

So, I need shorts. But I'm having a hell of a time finding anything longer than 3 inch ridiculousness.

Gap and Old Navy have some decent finds, but they're insane if they expect me to pay $38 for a pair of modest shorts.

I prefer to shop in person so I can try stuff on. I'm 4'11" and about 100 pounds, so while juniors is the right place for me, everything is way too short.

I hate this. Can anybody help me out?

Learn to sew? I have no clue.

As an alternative, wear boy's shorts? Those always seem much too long.

Contrary to popular belief, there is some clothing at thrift shops that's not frumpy. Granted it's usually something like a 6 frumpy to 1 regular ratio and it's usually not in the size you're looking for, but if you're persistent, it honestly can be done. I'm pretty sure about 60~70% of my clothes are from thrift stores with another 10~20% free stuff (mainly free t-shirts)

Eddie Bauer has some nice shorts that are not ridiculously short, and they're $20 a pair.

I like these:

Try a camping/outdoor store such as REI ot Dick's Sporting Goods. Hiking shorts typically come long including the juniors.

There are at REI.com

1. I'm jealous of your juniorness :) I haven't been a junior since I was about 15.

2. Here are some possibilities:

In person, check out TJMaxx, Marshalls, Gordmans, etc. They tend to be cheaper and often have good stuff!

3. Not recommended. Who would think white, thin, itty bitty shorts are a good idea?

Pretty much all of the shorts I have ever bought myself are from Kohl's. They seem decent quality (I've had some for 5 years now...wow, I feel old. I did NOT realize it had been that long!). Otherwise, TJ Maxx is a good place to try. You never know what you might find there, and it's usually good quality stuff for not so much money.
