xTrishaxLynnx
We already had the meetup thanks, tho.
Yeah, I know... I'm kicking myself for not coming back to PM sooner, otherwise I could've gone. If I would've been invited, that is...

homeschoolmom
People who live in places with regular winter temps below zero should not have to think of heat indexes of 100*.
I heard that below a certain point, it doesn't really make a difference. If your HI is only 100, thank God! Although, it works a lot the same with heat. After about 105, it all feels the same to me.

Because I can most certainly tell the difference between -20* and -40* (and so can my car)!

Maybe it was below like 10 degrees, you just bundle and keep moving.

If you live in a place with below zero temps in the winter, you should be rewarded with summer days in the 80s.

arfink
I heard that below like... 10? Maybe? Maybe it was below like 10 degrees, you just bundle and keep moving.
When it's 40 below, you can't actually move all that well. 10 below: it's quite cold, and you need layers. 20 below: you need more layers. Any amount of exposed skin will become numb in moments, and will stay that way for a while after entering the next "heat bubble" 30 below: More layers. Any moisture on your skin or face will freeze almost instantly. Eyes, nose, skin. Not pleasant. 40 below: You will have difficulty breathing. At this temp you can actually feel your lungs having difficulty breathing, unless you have a full face mask on to help cut the blisteringly cold air before it enters your body. But the face mask will then absorb moisture from your breath... With wind chill added into the mix it can actually get life threatening very quickly. Staying out of doors for a prolonged period of time without really top notch protective gear will do damage to your body at subzero temps, and even with the warmest of jackets you will eventually lose all your body heat if you stay out long enough.
