The Boycott Is On.

Hi Pham,

I just received an email.

the gas boycott is officially on.

It has been requested that no one purchase gas on May 19.

Hopefully this will send a message strong and clear.

If possible gas up in the next few days and not wait until the last minute.

Maybe the gas companies will choke (doubt it) but I was asked to at least pass the word on.

Please follow suit if you wish and inform everyone you know.

thanks and God Bless

Peace.

below is the email I received from a friend in Virginia. thanks Pham.

Subject: fwd: DO NOT BUY GAS ON MAY 19th

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL
COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER
4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR
behind "
DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF
GASOLINE
THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS
NOT
GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT
THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT
IS
SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL
SUPPLIES
ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE
WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

The gas companies don't make money off you buy gas, they only make a few cents on the gallon. Taxes and OPEC set the price. I hope the State of IL repeals the tax like they did in 00 (I think?)

Yeah, not buying gas for one day is not going to do anything. We got to this point because everyone all of a sudden wanted the big bad gas-guzzling SUVs, the energy companies were caught sleeping and didn't expand their refining capacities, and we never got serious about any kind of alternative-fuel program. I would absolutely LOVE to buy an electric or solar power car if they didn't cost as much as a deluxe-model Cadillac. My choice for an SUV would be one of those new hybrid Ford Escapes, but I know they're gonna be sold at a premium. These car companies are missing the point big-time by not offering a discount on alternative-fuel cars.

gas boycott?

that's about the sillest thing I ever heard.

hmmm, seems to me this email went around last year and the year before that too.

Didn't make one lick of difference then and it won't now.

Sorry guys, if you want to make a difference use public transportation, walk, ride a bike or buy an electric car.

I walk to Byron when it is nice out. And gas use in my house is like a tank (not sure the size) a week.

I agree with ya, Kil... unfortunately so many factors work against those alternatives.

Electric cars, as I have mentioned, are cost-prohibitive right now.

Biking or walking is fine... in perfect weather.

And some cities have really stubborn voters who'll say no to almost anything, including public transportation. Case in point: Arlington, Texas, where my workplace is. I can't take a bus there because time and time again the voters there turn down bus service, because they feel it would be a waste of taxpayer dollars and it would bring "the wrong kind of people" into their neighborhoods. As a result, Arlington is THE LARGEST CITY IN THE NATION WITHOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. I've taken to calling it "Horriblington" because of this. I'm sorry to put down dUSt's hometown like this, but I just had to vent.

Oh, I know what you mean - even here in planet Houston taking the bus is tantumount to an all day affair. (you know, an hour to get someplace that's 15 minutes down the road)

But a gas boycott won't really hurt anyone but the poor guy who personally owns the gas station you buy your gas at. And he probably doesn't really set the price.

Okay, in all honesty, I'd consider buying an electric car.... IF....

They didn't look so darn repulsive!

Why can't they make an electric care that looked like a corvette! Maybe that would get them some sales.

If you ask me, the people who make the electric / hybrid cars are terrible marketers.

Make the car look cool! Not like it's from some other planet.
