Non-catholics Have Feelings Too

Recommended Posts

A while ago, I was very hurt by some untrue things that some people said about Protestants in an overzealous furvor, so I left. I've decided to come back because I am still trying to search for answers in my faith. I need to not let some wrong things that a few people say hinder me in my search.

Everyone has their faults. It's why we need Jesus, the faultless lamb, to cover our sins. No one has the right method for everything all the time. We are humans, and we make mistakes on an individual AND corporate basis.

As Christians, (Catholic or non) we have a duty to love each other and build each other up. Accusing an entire faction of people, making generalizations, is not giving individual brothers the respect that they deserve. It's not showing God's love. If you think that no one is watching while you make a critical post, it's not true. I've had some off-hand comments I've made about others come back to forgive my unpleasant disposition because I said them in spite and rude humor instead of love.

Most of the people on this forum are Catholics, but not all. If you truly believe that being Catholic is the only way to be near to God, then I hope you understand the responsibility you have as lay ministers of your own faith.

Peace be with you,
Dusty Fro

I'm sorry that you felt that way... I'm sure no one here meant to hurt you, I don't know what it was that was posted, but there will be things that are true that are hard to accept for non-Catholics. Sometimes the Truth does hurt (St. John 6:66). Especially when we learn that people we trusted were wrong about the Catholic Faith.

Please do not judge the Catholic Faith from the people within her. Judge her on what she really teaches in light of Christian history - from the first Christians until today.

The Catholic Faith/Church is the One and Only Faith established by Christ.

If you think that you are serving God the way that God wants you to, then you are considered Catholic by desire and therefore part of Christ's Church - the Catholic Church (St. Matt. 16:18-19).

Now, if one knows that the Catholic Faith was established by Christ, and refuses to be in the Catholic Faith then they have no hope of salvation. To knowingly reject the ones that Christ sends is to reject Christ (St. Luke 10:16).

Dusty Fro (and Mulls, too)... I am glad that you are both back. :) I understand your sentiment very much. I'm too tired to completely express myself well... so I will just say again... I'm glad you are both back...

I thought non-Catholics had only one nerve that ran the lenght of their bodies, but did not feel pain in the same way we Catholics do.

I was also under the impression they foamed when doused with water.

Ummmm ... maybe I'm being a little uptight here, but if that's a joke, it doesn't seem to be in the best of taste.

Tasteful jokes are like rubber pants. They get the job done, but there's something, well, sweaty about them.

I read this right after Winchester posted. If I didn't think it was a joke I would have edited it. I'm leaving it because I understand (most of the time) Winchester's dry, and oftentimes "distasteful" jokes/sense of humor.

Hopefully our non-Catholic phamily will understand the joke and take it well, if they are overly offended... well, I guess then we can edit it, but for now I don't really see the point. There have been half a dozen posts on it and if we edit the joke we should probably edit all references to it as well.... and right now its bedtime for me and I am lazy. :P

Winchester

thank you.

And yes, it was a joke, but it was a joke with a deep meaning. It was actually poking fun at Catholic bigots, which as we all know is an action held in high esteem in most upper circles of society. I am just trying to bring a little sophistication to the phorum.

I don't think they are either, but since Dave said "it doesn't seem to be in the best of taste" and then Winchester said "Tasteful" the term "distasteful" was the only one I could think of, hence the quotation marks. :D
