arfink
If it doesn't end well..... start over.
I'm thinking it may turn out OK in the end. If not, well. I can always pull the plug. I haven't made any decisions yet, since I CAN work two jobs at once. It would be a bummer to have to jump ship. Ultimately I don't think I will have to. I suspect 90% of my anxiety right now is because I have been dropped into the middle of a running project and I'm a) disoriented because I don't know anyone on the project, b) I don't know what's being expected of me, c) I haven't used these skills in a work setting and whenever that happens I immediately start doubting myself. I just need to chill. Maybe I can take a shower while I wait for the next revision to land in my inbox.
AnneLine
Sounds like a good plan, ARFink. They can't blame YOU if you are stuck in the middle. Just be sure you get some kind of way of documenting that you are ready & willing to go when they get their act together -- a tactfully written email to that end would work. That way if this one does fall apart, you still may be on the list to be considered next time -- and if it does get done this time, they know you are ready & willing to be flexibile and able to work to a set deadline. Holding you & project in prayer..... (and breathing & eating healthy never hurt, either!)
arfink
Well, things turned out OK. The deadline has been extended until tomorrow night. Things gonna be alright.
MissyP89
YAY! Can has happies. Now, as for pulling the plug .. you gotta give yourself way longer than one project to figure out if it'll suit you. Deadline-oriented stuff takes time to get into because you have to establish a rhythm. Too, if deadline isn't met because your bosses are being unreasonable or the system crashes or whatever, it's not on you. Press on.

arfink
Today I was sent a graphic design task. I get to sort through a list of logos and pick out exactly one that I think is best. I must explain why I reject all the others. Then I must cut the image up into little pieces to put into this document. I finished it already. It took me less than 30 mins. HAPPY DANCE!
