Brother Adam
I don't know. Depends on the price. $300-500 range, I can see it doing well. Priced over an ipad, or even on the same level, I can see it flopping. Also the battery life.
eagle_eye222001
Looks razzle dazzle. Video was razzle dazzle. Of course like Bro Adam said the stuff that matters will be price and specs in comparison to Apple and and the other tablets.
ReinnieR
windows 8 runs on arm therefore battery life would be more efficient than windows 7 tablets of old. this would come out in 2 versions windows RT which is arm based and windows 8 which is intel based running core i5 (ivy bridge). windows RT would be priced comparable to android tablets and windows 8 would be priced comparable to "ultrabooks"
ReinnieR
compare it to the macbook air not the iPad. the iPad runs a mobile operating system. we're talking windows here.you're comparing apples and oranges (pun intended)
arfink
From what I can tell, Windows for ARM will be seriously crippled from the get-go, with no real cross-compatibility with anything, not even Windows 8. Also, Microsoft seems to be doing everything in their power to make developers run screaming from Windows 8. I could be proven wrong, but Microsoft is very very late to this party, and if they don't want to adopt an open standard or at least make development on the platforms accessible then they will probably get trampled. The media are already doing it. And when people see that it doesn't "just work" and it isn't as sexy as an iThing then it'll be all over. Everyone who wants an iPad will just get an iPad. People who want mobile devices will probably go with Android for the time being because it's established, ubiquitous, has a nice catalog of apps already, and it's cheap. The x86 crowd falls into two groups: "using whatever I happen to have on hand" who will probably keep buying cheap Dells running Windows XP or Win 7, while the "I use x86 as my video game console" will continue buying Win 7 laptops and desktops for the power and performance, not to mention video game compatibility. Win 8 is shaping up to be a useless gimmick from everything I have seen. Most power users want Win 7, most regular users don't like change, and everyone else already has a nice new toy that's not even running MS software. maximillion
Specs, man, the memory smells of elderberries. But then this is true of every tablet. Edited June 19, 2012 by maximillion
EmilyAnn
They're a bit late to the party. Though I am a Mac person I will admit the inclusion of a keyboard is pretty useful.
Papist
Now Microsoft can add a tablet to their overpriced, mediocre product line.
Brother Adam
The keyboard is the winner here, but apple also has a $69 wireless keyboard. It also seems like it is being priced high - between $500-1000. My guess is that it flops.
arfink
Keyboard completely devoid of tactile feedback = fail.
Papist
Doesn't the keyboard kinda defeat the purpose of a tablet?
CatholicCid
Is that a USB port I see? If so, I think that will be a major feature. Attach an external hard drive and you can use the tablet as a laptop. The built in stand is a nice touch, and I believe there is a camera on the back. I feel like this will do well. I don't think it is supposed to be a tablet's competition, but more so the next step in tablets, or tab-tops. The potential has been there for some time with the iPad. As for not being competition with tablets, well, nobody who is in the market for a laptop will be wanting this, and yet nobody in the tablet market will be wanting it either. I guess Microsoft has created their own limbo for their product to go die in. Edited June 19, 2012 by arfink
