She grew up in a Protestant household that was extremely liberal. She converted to Catholicism, but she is still trying to weed out the "liberalisms" as I call them (Note: I do know there are liberals that are in line with Church teaching.). What's even better is she wants to join the most traditional Monastery in all of the UK. She has been accepted, even.

BG45
CNN was covering their antics this morning, but framing it as the evil out-of-touch Vatican trying to oppress women's rights.
My atheist/agnostic grandma ALWAYS emails me articles about the Church (lately the LCWR) that make my blood boil - on purpose.
My Atheist/Agnostic dad has harassed my mother about her going to church for 31 years. He's harassed me about it for 26.
Brother Adam
HuffPo is pretty boring actually. It's the same arguments recycled over and over again. No reason to get worked up really. It's like the saint who rolled over and went back to sleep with the devil was making a ruckus in his bedroom. "Oh, you again, yawn." Be holy. Let liberals screech until they get bored, and then be open when a few become interested in the Gospel.

Annie12
I could look at this on the bright side. They needed to twist the Pope's words in order for him to look bad. LOL!

PilgrimageOfGrace
The "media" has been against the Pope since the Reformation -- if he is strict, he'd be called draconian and a Nazi (as we see with the Nuns now), if he's to forgiving they'll say he's weak and a coward ...and if he follows a moderate approach then he's a fence-sitter and real politician... I mean really, the poor man cannot win. Edited June 20, 2012 by PilgrimageOfGrace
eagle_eye222001
http://www.huffingto..._n_1603923.html These people are just so ignorant! I know without a doubt that they twisted the popes words! The Holy Father was a leader in fighting the clerical abuse of children and this...THIS! is abominable! How dare they?!?! If that wasn't bad enough, just look at the comments at the end of the page! They are awful and FULL of lies about the church! Satan is mad! You can tell by work of trash like this! This make me SO sad ! They put his word in there but they tried to make them sound like he was out of touch.
You made a few mistakes. 1. Reading the Huffington Post. I used to click on the catchy title links too. But then I realized they just unfairly trashed real religion and the conservative right. So I almost never go to their site, even if the title looks catchy. 2. Letting it get to you. It's happened to me too. However, we can't get all worked up because some people are desperate to prop up their world of lies and trash. There will always be someone taking pot-shots at the church.....and some people just want to watch the world burn! 3. Reading comment sections at the end of news articles. News sites (ESPECIALLY liberal left sites) are where the atheists and leftists of the world live. Let them comment. I've tried debating in such comment sections, and nearly 95%, those people are not interested in the what you have to say. Generally there is too little space, and you'll get overrun with logical fallacies and outright lies. I mean....when someone literally ignores what you say, and they say something vile about the pope or the faith, what are you to do? You can't force people to be reasonable....or logical. Chesterton has some really witty thoughts on this. _________ Aftermath There is a phrase in the gospel about not casting your pearls before swine. I think it applies here. Sometimes you just need to let things go.......especially when you cannot control. Those people are OBVIOUSLY not interested in dialogue or search for truth, so I don't even bother going to that site to defend the Church. Pray for them if you want, but don't let it take you down.......or you'll let the devil win. Adopt guerrilla warfare. Strike when they listen, flee when you run into the illogical and insane. Edit: originally said "couple" mistakes when in reality it was a few (3). Corrected for proper use of the term "couple."
