I spend the better part of father's day cleaning the basement and tending to the broken washing machine.

Laudate and Papist,
If you made your wive's sammiches during the year, you would have days like mine. (After your kids are old enough to buy you beer.) I almost (but not quite) feel a little sad for you boys. I didn't even have to open my own beers or wash dishes and we celebrate 3 birthdays on Sunday too.

I always found this rather odd. Leading up to Mother's Day every TV channel has commercials aimed at husband buying his wife diamonds for Mother's Day. And leading up to Father's Day every TV channel has commercials aimed at wife buying her husband some cheap arse power tool for Father's Day. The cost discrepancy is wide.

Hey now, some power tools are dang expensive.

Are you sure it was "Star Trek" that was on TV, or "The Partridge Family"?

I also noticed yesterday that fathers were out walking their kids - and dogs.

So, for Mother's Day, mothers get the day off, and for Father's Day, fathers have extra chores to do.

Somebody should have told me about this ahead of time. I feel deceived.

I'm telling your wife that you think going for a walk with your son is a chore. :harhar:

Well, it is!

You have to hold both his hands while you walk, and bend yourself in half. Otherwise he falls and cries!
