Are There Things A Catholic Shouldn't Pray For?

So the other night I was talking to a good Catholic friend of mine and she mentioned that her neighbor had bought all these chickens and was keeping them in his backyard. Unfortunately, these chickens are noisy, and will not stop gobbling at all hours of the night for whatever reason. She's tried convincing her neighbor to get rid of the chickens, but to no avail. She said that she has gone without sleep for so long now that she prayed for God to smite her neighbor's chickens. She told me she's not sure if what she did was moral or not, or if she needs to go to Confession. I honestly don't know what the Church's position on this matter would be, and was wondering what I should tell her. Thank you for your time.

We should never pray for another person to suffer. Praying for something to happen to the chickens would harm the neighbor. Aside from the monetary loss, they may be emotionally attached to the chickens as well. She could have prayed for the chickens to get used to their new environment and to settle down to not making as much noise. She could also have purchased some ear plugs. I sleep with them very comfortably.

Whenever in doubt about whether something should be confessed, a priest in the confessional is the best person to ask. It's quicker and easier than worrying ourselves silly about it, which I have also been guilty of many times in the past.

I believe Father Vincent Serpa, O.P., said that he could be redeemed, but he hates God so much he would never do it, no matter how much pain he goes through.

That's something Father Vincent Serpa can't answer, unfortunately. He is a Dominican but he cannot study the Devil's inner-thoughts. Though I am sure if any Order was to figure out how it would be the Dominicans.

I had Progresso soup for dinner because according to my grandmaster it is good to eat noodles and things like that before karate tests.
