Not to be a Donald Downer, but what about product liability when someone shoots their freind in the eye, uses too strong of a band and it breaks sending debris in their own eye, modifies to shoot bands with staples or paperclips attached, etc., etc. etc.

I'd like to just say I took my latest shooter design and built it with 1/4" plywood on the scroll saw, just to see if my idea would work. It does indeed shoot rubber bands just fine, though it's quite ugly due to my complete lack of skill with a scroll saw. The laser-cut ones will be indeed be much much nicer.

I shot myself and then (after determining the rubber bands were seriously weaksauce) shot others with it. You likely couldn't put out an eye with the bands it shoots (#16 rubber bands) but you could put out an eye by just poking someone with it. This is assuming they sat still long enough for you to put the barrel in their eye. Also, the design inherently precludes the usage of clips or staples because of the way it retains the band. I tried it. :)

I am buying a CO2. No I do not have 30k laying around: they don't actually cost that much anymore. They cost more like $2700, including the air fiddlers, water pump, compressor, etc you need to run the laser.

I am aware that cutting acrylic/ABS/wood is going to smell bad. This is why you ventilate the cutting area really well, which I will be doing.

If you are interested in getting me blanks that would be sweet, but I still need to consider a few things first. Hold that thought for me. :)
