sixpence
Are there any bugs that are toxic? Like the poison dart frog or funnel spider. Do you mean Hemipterans? or anything? Do you mean if you consume the insect or if it attacks you? Why do moths release a puff of smoke when they are smushed? Well, I guess smoke isn't the right word, it's more like a puff of dust. Moth and butterflies are covered in tiny scales... they come off easily if you touch them, it makes them slippery so they have a better chance of escape, but also if they loose too many it can probably affect flight!! is a spider a bug, technically speaking? NO!!!!!!!! :P Edited January 31, 2013 by sixpence

NO!!!!!!!! :P I knew spiders were not bugs. I mean toxic as containing neurotoxins or the like. Either as a used as a weapon(e.g. fire ant) or built into their body(e.g. poison dart frog). I am thinking of any bug in Australia. And what the heck is a Hemipterans? Sounds like a cult of Dodge drivers.

WillT
as papist suggested, i study mosquitoes.... although mostly Aedes and not Anopheles! :P what do u do willT? Dear lameboard... I am so bored...ask more bug questions!!! Currently an Agronomy student and taking some Entomology classes. I have an IPM class this semester that has been pretty interesting. The reason I saw the Tarnished Plant Bug was that I worked for our cotton breeder last semester. Many hours of picking cotton by hand in the MS Delta!
