sometimes the best thing is to just listen, offering no advice, and just being there.

"Offer it up" is also high on the list of things not to say to someone who is suffering and seeking comfort.

Be quiet. :judge:

i guess these don't fit the paradigm here:

get over it

man up

put on yer big girl panties

want me to call the wah-mbulance?

i don;t see a bone sticking out. get up

want some coagulated milk with that whine?

shut up or i'll give you a reason to cry

My parents could use a few tips from you, that's for sure...

This one always makes me want to punch people on the nose and say, "Offer up THIS!"

Remember to listen and to just be there. There's a book and radio show by NPR called "Listening is an Act of Love." It really and truly is. It's an easy way to act with sensitivity.

I'm glad it's not "sensitivity" fest. I think there is a few problems with being overly sensitive in today's society (That's not an opener for a debate, just an opinion). However, there have been a few times where we thought I broke something and all my dad said was "Have a Tylenol." :P

Don't punch 'em in the nose. Offer it up instead.
