PhuturePriest
I'm doing an eight-page paper on the Cristero War and though Wikipedia is the most credible source man has ever known I wanted to know if you guys would answer a few questions when they arise while I am writing my paper? The current one is the law forbade the clergy from wearing "Religious garbs" as Wikipedia oh-so professionally calls them. What about Religious? Were Nuns and Friars not allowed to wear their habits, or did this law only include vestments worn for Mass? Or use lexis nexis or something like that.
I'll check, but I wouldn't imagine the library would have anything on the Cristero War. It's not a very documented thing. I didn't even know about it until the movie came out.
Lilllabettt
You will discover that the library contains a lot of information, even information you don't know about. Edited June 4, 2012 by Lilllabettt
Lilllabettt
seriously though there are plenty of books about this topic. Depending on the size of your library you may need to look in a more general Mexican history book.

I'm going to look today most likely. I said I doubted that it would have a book on it. I have been wrong before and unfortunately the odds say I will be wrong again. Aw... The image of Han Solo demanding that you not tell him the odds didn't work... eagle_eye222001
Even if I told you the answer, how would you cite it? 1. Eagle_eye222001 on Phatmass.com on 6-4-2012? There should be several books on the matter and several journals online somewhere. With all due to respect, any information we do tell you, where do you think we are getting it? Basilisa Marie
Go to the library. Ask if they have InterLibrary Loan. Use that and get ALL THE BOOKS YOU COULD EVER WANT for free. If they don't have that, ask them what kind of research databases they have. EbscoHost and JSTOR will help you find stuff. Do you have any kind of college nearby? They will have some kind of Interlibrary loan system. If all that fails, pick a new topic.
sixpence
a hint... while it is a terrible idea to cite wikipedia... you can ALWAYS scroll down to the bottom and look at all the sources they are citing. Be aware that while some of these may not be legit, you may find the titles of a few books you can ask for through interlibrary loan. And I know that at least in MY state, all the library catalog is online, so if you have you card, you can just request whatever books you want to be sent to the library near you!! PhuturePriest

homeschoolmom, you are razzle dazzle. Thank you for adding the picture. How did you do it? I always press "copy link location" and then paste it into the picture thing. This has proven to be the only way I have effectively done it, but I tried to do that very picture and it wouldn't work. Maybe all the home schooling is making you smarter? He's just trying to help me do the paper since I have never done a paper before, and he figured he might as well make me do a paper on something I find interesting. sixpence
If you are learning to do a paper you might as well do it right... I benefited A LOT from being forced to do literature searches and proper citations when I was around 13. Now that I'm a TA and I have to grade lab reports, I see that the majority of students have no idea what they are doing and it reflects in their grades

Putting the correct subject heading of "Cristero Rebellion, 1926-1929" pulls up 243. Get thee to a library!
