Just as people on the left jumping up and down and saying "Look what a monkey-idiot Bush is!" every time he misspoke only served to make them look stupid and weaken their position, those on the right get the same result for doing something like this.

With as many shortcomings throughout the four years of his presidency that you have to pick from, picking this only makes you look petty and gives the appearance of not having any complaints with substance.

um, I am a new yorker. It is soda.

Um, I am a western Kansan. It's pop.

I would've used an accent, but seeing as how we don't actually have any accents like you silly people with actual cultures, I am left with a boring message.

I doubt CNN would make a big deal of it. Some tool on MSNBC might, but that's why I said reasonable people. There are all sorts of people who will take any opportunity to beesh about what the other side does. Hence this discussion about Obama's subtle attempt to shift war guilt from Germany to Poland. And I'm sure that some tool on Fox or the right wing radio stations will make a huge stink over this. Just like Air America or someone on MSNBC might have done had this been Bush. But you said 'national uproar'. Most people are not bat chit crazy and would realize in either instance that this was simply and only a speaking error and obviously neither President was unaware of the actual history or attempting to shift blame on the wrong side.
Oh, that is a relief... kind of. I know people who say that, but they aren't joking... so yeah.
WHAT?!?!?! I don't have an accent! Well actually I do, but it is more of a slight southern/ long island accent. I blame my parents, but it is still soda.

Well, be thankful you have a slight accent. In Kansas there are no accents. There's no real culture here, unfortunately. Living in a place with diverse cultures must be interesting, if not a terrifying culture shock for someone like me. :P
Not quite that polish. :) Great grand parents are off the boat polish and we still keep a lot of traditions.

Oh. They got here after 1945?
I believe it was before WWII, they have passed away now, but they were not subject to the occupation or anything.

See? You're special! It's a compliment! Think: You guys are so special you get rules nobody else will hopefully get, and if we do I will meet you at Checkpoint Charlie, otherwise known as Canada.
