I think it is down to those two (or should I say three, because "other" is an option).

I am interested in who Catholics (and non-Catholics) would vote for and why.

I will be voting for John Kerry. My whole family on all sides are die-hard Democrats, as are most of my friends. I try not to let that influence me, and I don't think it does. I am voting for Kerry because I agree on most of his positions.

If you want to know more:

I was just talking with our chaplain about this the other day, and we both feel it's going to be a hard decision to make this year. -_-

I chose the null vote, because I'm not sure. I think it is a case of the lesser of two great evils. I think George W. is the lesser evil, but I'm not sure I want to support his cause. I might wait until the troops come home before I vote for a republican again. (And I will never vote pro-choice, so the dems are out, although I am sympathetic to many of their causes).

Mr Kerry is not an option for a Catholic.
So you either vote for President Bush or a third party candidate.

The Catholic paper here said Bush was pro life and anti stem cell more so than Kerry. However on all other issues Kerry is closer to the Churchs views.

Thankfully the Bishops have been giving clearer guidance on this as of late. One cannot vote for abortion, and be in communion with the Church.

peace...

Can you name some issues? I can see no reason whatsoever to vote for John Kerrey. It would be like voting for someone who favors raping women. It would be absurd.

Careful. Third-party is almost a guaranteed loss so it's supporting Kerry indirectly... :( I don't really mind Bush that much. :)

hmm i dont consider it a sin to show support for someone that is pro life but just happens to have no chance to win. I voted Buchanan last election who is a pro life Roman Catholic, dont consider that sinful

dont think it would indirectly help kerry or bush much anyway

Don't vote for Buchanan...a vote for Buchanan is a vote for Kerry...besides, Buchanan likes to pawn himself off to Catholics as a good Catholic, but some of his conservative views aren't cool at all.

Bush is definitely a "lesser of two evils" in this election. My family is full of die-hard Democrats as well, and if it weren't for the pro-abor stance, as well as the Big Brother stance they've been pushing as of late, I'd probably be a Democrat.

Can't vote...I'm 15 and not American, but I'm following the elsection closely.

Looks like Kerry is leading Bush (according to some polls...who knows)

It's only May. Things can happen.

I'm voting for Bush.

how hard is it to grasp people..dont be like Kerry and only listen to the Church when you feel like it.

You cannot vote for Kerry and be in Communion with the Church, this makes it a SIN to do. Doesnt matter if you 'feel' like its wrong or not, the Church has made its position, its up to us to accept it.

So now you only have two choices, An independant vote or Bush.

Frankly I was going to vote Independant until figuring out that this could get Kerry elected..

Voting for Bush is voting for No more overtime pay in our jobs, illegal immigrants getting rights that we have without going through proper channels, and more and more jobs going overseas. Not to mention tax's that make rich richer and the poor the same.

I'm sorry, but this election is really going to smell of elderberries. I really don't like either candidate, i think they both smell of elderberries. But Kerry scares me to much, so i'll probably vote bush (much to the chagrin of all my friends who hate bush). But even then i have some misgiving particularly about how he's been treating the economy and outsourcing jobs, but i don't like Kerry.
