Groo the Wanderer
Its not like the props represent how catholic the poster is, just how much people like their posts. therefore, i see no reason not to allow them for phishy's, after all non catholics can get them
nah. non-Catholics are true to their beliefs. phishys claim to be Catholic but have serious obedience/faith issues. could lead to scandal. ex> a buddhist on the forum refuses to believe in angels. no harm done. a Catholic on the board refuses to believe in angels. this can confuse people new to or struggling with the faith. makes it seem like the teachings of the Church are open to personal interpretation....and they aint. Anomaly
So what are props even for, other than a purely social popularity. Why does it matter if a phishey or catholic gives/gets them? You get them for an irrelevant llama post or maybe for a post you spent thirty minutes composing. Honestly, they're meaningless unless they allow me go download movies from iTunes. I would've propped this but I want to spend them wisely.
Socrates
Since nowadays it seems like every American "Catholic" and his grandmother dissents from Church moral teaching on something or another (especially on things concerning sex), and, as far as I'm aware, most of them aren't burned at the stake or anything, really, how hard can it be? Seriously, folks. Edited June 2, 2012 by Socrates

Aloysius
the 21st century version of being burned at the stake is not being allowed to get props or send PMs on phatmass i think it may be a little less effective as a deterant, but I'm not sure. people do like their props. only time will tell.
yeah, but the props arent saying he is catholic or that he is true to beliefs or whatever. they are merely saying that some people like his posts, which is clearly the case, given how many people want that to happen, and allowing him to say which posts he likes. the props themselves dont confuse anybody as to catholic teaching, otherwise we wouldnt be handing them out for pictures of cats, memes, jokes, etc.
AnneLine
There have been times when I would have really liked to prop one or more of the un-prop-ables when they really do something RIGHT..... and it would be nice to be able to do so as an encouragement toward more of the same.... I bet Jesus would lure people to the shore with freshly fried props.... mmmmmmm....

fides' Jack
Who here advocates blind obedience?
Honestly, I support eventual blind obedience. I think that once people reach a certain level in their quest for holiness, it becomes a necessity to let oneself go completely, and to trust and obey blindly, as it were. PhuturePriest
I've often said that following the rules is much easier. I don't have to get my panties in a twist about anything.
That's a lie no matter how obedient you are. There are still tons of things the Church lets us fight about, such as modesty. I'm sure we can all recall getting our "panties in a twist" about modesty at least twelve times this year alone.
