Rowan d'Alexandre
I have worked in a family restaurant for most of my life, and it is a terrible job. Seriously. I wish my dad could've been an architect or something. However, I do get paid quite a bit, and it all adds up over time.
XD My mum's family owned and operated a family restaurant for many years....I've heard most of the stories already. Greatly amusing. Oh yeah, props to whoever mentioned babysitting. It doesn't sound like much, but if you can get a steady schedule, it's a great way to earn a lot of money in a short time. I've gotten ten, twelve dollars an hour nannying. And you can advertise everywhere. Craigslist, town message boards, siblings' t-shirts. Muahaha.

My parents are making the sacrifice because they want me to go!!!!!
I'm glad you're happy and your parents love you and are generous in their love for their daughter. Why did they want you to get a job at first?

In high school I had a job hosting for a small restaurant and it was SUPER stressful (partly because I was getting 4 hours of sleep a night and the servers were cranky...WHOO senior year!). But now in grad school I work at a Panera Bread and it's absolutely perfect for me right now. But yay for Annie getting to go! I'd still offer to do some extra weeding in the garden and whatnot, though. And maybe think about a job. Jobs are great! They give you money! And you learn things! About people! And humility!
They said they had no money ( which is true. my dad's paycheck was cut $400 inadvertently) But then i told them about it and they though it was something I should go to. I was all ready to get a job! The reason why I don't have a job right now is because i don't drive and live in the middle of nowhere and that would mean my mom would have to drive me and I would have to get my licence and that would be $50 and I'm lazy I'm intimidated my the thought too. I probably need to grow up and just get one! lol! yeah..

PhuturePriest
Well, it all depends. Waking up at five in the morning to go to work just to come back at seven in the evening is really good. I have a good work ethic because I've worked in the food business all my life and I am grateful for it. However, it can sometimes get in the way of school. And sleep. Beautiful, beautiful sleep...
