Paladin D
Luke 17:20-21 - Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, "The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, 'Look, here it is,' or, 'There it is.' For behold, the kingdom of God is among you." I believe there is a perfect explanation for this, what is it? No doubt Protestants use this as their defence for an invisible church? Jake Huether
Jesus isn't refering to His Mystical Body. The Body of Christ is IN the Kingdom of God, but the Kingdom of God is NOT the Church. Even if he was talking about his Church, he is certainly not refering to the portion of the Church on earth. Otherwise it would make no sence for Jesus to say, "...and if he refuses to listen EVEN to the Church..." If the Church was invisible, how could one go and "tell it to the Church". Who's the Church then? But I'm glad you brought that passage up. It really brings home some amesome contemplative material! Imagine how close inDouche we are to Heaven! All the Angels and Saints are "among us"! That is why it gives me chills when, at Mass right before Communion, the priest bids us to sing in union with Mary and the Saints and Angels the HOLY HOLY. I can just imagin all the Angels and Saints singing right along with us in the Church. Just think, even when you are "all alone" you really aren't alone. Because the Kingdom of God is among you - you are surrounded by Heavenly Hosts! We poor humans simply have a Spiritual Veil over our eyes, which will be lifted at our death! (and in some instances it can be lifted while we are alive- such is the case with Apperitions). Jesus was making a statement on the nature of Heaven. It isn't a place, like Ohio. It is a state. But he wasn't talking about the Church.
Jake Huether
It isn't a place, like Ohio. It is a state. :D :D That's funny! Ohio is a place and a state. So I didn't really make any sence. Well, you know what I meant, right? Heaven isn't a location. You don't travel to heaven. It is a state (not like Ohio LOL). A state of being, that is.
