Things Are Moving Right Along!

I am pleasantly surprised, after meeting with the Academic Adviser and the Financial Aid Counselor, that things are running so smoothly. I decided after praying that I needed to continue with my education in the local area instead of moving because I am not prepared -- financially or emotionally -- to do that yet. I researched all the options available to me and fell in love with the Associate in Science degree in Medical Office Administration. My Bachelor's degree was going to be in Health Care Administration so I am moving 100% in the right direction. So many of my A.S. degree courses will be able to be transferred to the Bachelor's program!

The adviser was so helpful in giving me my options. He wanted to make sure I had carefully thought this through since he said that I could go into the Bachelor in Applied Science in Organizational Management. However, I do not feel that this is a good move at all because a B.A.S. degree is very difficult to translate into a Master's degree should I decide to get one in the future. Plus, it had a lot of courses that I felt were unnecessary and irrelevant to the kind of career I wanted to pursue. The A.S. degree in Medical Office Administration will prepare me to be a Medical Secretary or Medical Transcriptionist which I am very interested in. :)

Also, the Financial Aid Counselor looked up my FAFSA results and said that I have a $5,550 Pell Grant awaiting my use!!!! The college doesn't require that I verify anything either so I don't have to fill out loads of paperwork! I was BEAMING when she said that! I am so happy!

This is an answered prayer -- most definitely!!! I know, with absolute certainty, that I am right where God wants me at this present time. I hope to enroll full-time in the fall and begin the first of 4 semesters to get my degree!

If I could ask you to pray for something -- please pray for a part-time job. I am still searching and there aren't many options out there. However, it occurred to me that, since I am eligible for Financial Aid, I could look into the Federal Work Study program! I am gathering the necessary paperwork. I want everything done well before the fall so I don't have to scramble at the last minute. Procrastination is my weakness, so I need to try hard to overcome that! :)
