qfnol31
So would a masturbator fall under the same 'incompatibility'? And since when is a 'lifestyle' a sin? I was always under the impression that SSA is not sinful, only the ACT of homosexuality is sinful. People with SSA can live chaste lives, can they not? And being chaste is perfectly compatible with catholicism....
Masterbation is a private affair, the last time I checked. An openly homosexual life is very public and cannot by definition be private.

The behavioral in response to the attraction is where the sin is. This can be applied not just to SSA. Think of it like this. Say you are attracted to ponies. Your attraction is leading you to post ponies and you know posting ponies is sinful, yet you do. The attraction to ponies in not sinful, the posting is. Or that all homosexuals, ipso faco they are homosexuals, are defacto living an open homosecual life?

CatherineM was very clear (as just about everyone in this thread has been) that the problem is with an active homosexual life, i.e. the very homosexual acts you just said are sinful. MIKolbe
I guess my endgame question is... "short of me coming out and telling everyone of my CURRENT erotic homosexual escapades, how do you know I am living an open homosexual life?"
Certain sins will always remain between you and God. It is not up to human law to counter all of these sins. If some of your sins become public, you can and ought to be punished. Please don't masterbate in public. I think it'll get you in trouble with the law.

You masterb8ing privately is a different matter than you understanding and publicly proclaim that masterb8ing is who you are. Is admitting one has SSA, without delving into whether or not I ever acted on these disordered desires, is that acceptable?
