My Dad Is Really Sick

My dad has a spinal compression fracture---he fractured one of his vertebrae. He's a tough guy, but he had been in excruciating pain for the last week and didn't want to go to the hospital, thinking he just sprained his back. My siblings finally decided to take him last nite, and we find out he has a fracture in his lower back. This healing will be sloooow and painful. Sometimes fractures require surgery, but I'm not sure doctors would do surgery on my elderly dad.

His body is too old for his spirit. He wants to keep doing what he's always done. My dad was a body builder in his youth. Heck, one day a little more than a year ago I came home for lunch to find him lifting weights in his room. He used to ride my 12 speed dirt bike for miles everyday. But within the span of one year, after his 86th birthday, his body has not been nice to him. He developed pemphigus ---a skin condition---and now he has this fracture :(

He's taking prednisone, which can cause all sorts of havoc. My father's immune system is not up to par because of that medicine, and this worries me.

I prayed very hard last nite, beggin Jesus to keep my dad healthy and let him live out the rest of his life doing what he's always done, and be at peace. My dad came home all smiles and exclaimed, "I'm going to live FOREVER!" hahaha

(He was on painkillers... hahaha...)

Please Please keep him in your prayers... I know my father is accepting all of this and giving himself over to Jesus... he often tells me, "I'm just suffering a little for Jesus...and I know dang well I will never suffer as much as He did for me!" He gets tears because he's afraid to die. In July he will be 87 years young. :) Please keep this wonderful and beautiful human being in your prayers....I love him sooo much!!!
