My husband has a Kuerig and loves it. He gets lots of different flavors plus it does tea, hot chocolate, apple cider, iced tea and coffee. Zack can't start the day without a white hot chocolate.

I bought this a while back. It's amazing. I use a regular coffee maker now just because it's easier for multiple cups and I'm lazy, but if you only make a single cup, this is the way to go.

Also, it's great for camping.

This is the kind of coffee maker we have at home:

It is very difficult to clean. As I stated earlier, I researched how to clean the coffee pot without buying the expensive pre-made cleaner. I used 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water and ran it through the full 4 cup brew. Then, I emptied the decanter and filled it with warm water (to prevent the glass from cracking) and ran it through the full 4 cup brew again. I used it right after and it still did not help with the taste. I wonder if the coffee maker is made with some sort of plastic that leaches out in the coffee or something because the coffee tasted like plastic. It was gross! :x

Hm. My grandmother has one like that. I'll ask her how she cleans it.

Maybe you just have bad coffee.

Um, I highly doubt it. It's Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend. Keep in mind that I'm using the same coffee in my little tea maker that I was using in the electric pot. It tastes so different and so much better in the tea maker.

A lot of things can impact the taste of coffee. If you've cleaned the pot, it's probably not the cleanliness of the pot that's making your coffee taste bad. Maybe it brews the water too hot, or not hot enough.

[/quote]A major culprit in nasty coffee is the water. If your water is fine, the basin holding the water might impart a plastic taste on the water.

I love my basic Kuerig. You only add water that you are going to brew immediately so it doesn't get nasty sitting there. No pots, it brews into your mug. And if you use the K-cups, you don't have fiddlers to wash. I like the set-up Mater's using, but it seems messy and more stuff to wash. I hate having to deal with a messy coffe maker.

Also, never refrigerate your coffe grounds and keep it as sealed as possible. (Another plus for K-cups). I don't drink alot of coffe so a pound can would last for weeks and weeks and get stale way before it's used up.

Yeah, I really think it had something to do with the plastic. I wonder if it was leaching out into the water while it was being heated. It's rather cheap plastic from the look of it, so it wouldn't surprise me...
