Trust me, not everyone with a professional or higher degree (probably most) couldn't think their way out of a wet paper bag for things outside their field...we even joke about that in my cohort. "I used to be good at Jeopardy, then they took all my knowledge and replaced it with Crim." "Does anyone remember common sense, I used to have some..." ContemporaryCaflicCrusader
I graduated from high school and let me tell ya... I'm glad that was it. So isn't my mom. Everybody told me I belonged at FUS. (Franciscan University of Stuebenville) For what? If I'm not gonna study it's a waste of money no matter how many good catholic people I get to know, New Hampshire needs good catholics too and you come out of Seton Home Study School knowing a lot of theology even though I only did high school with them I was public school before that and completely and in all ways miserable. MissScripture
wow, now I really do feel dumb.
Don't. My mom constantly tells me that education is never wasted, but I have a hard time believing that when we have about a bazillion dollars of student loans hanging over us because I felt the need to study something I hope to never use (at the time, I did think I wanted to use it. I waited until my last year to have a meltdown and realized I hated what I was doing).

BG45
I thought of this thread with the 80 year old guy changing the locks just now. To him, easiest thing ever. If it were me changing the lock, we'd still be on the easier of the two, not almost done with the deadbolt. He said something I entirely believe too. Me: So why are we changing the locks for the entire complex anyhow? It seems like it would be expensive. Him: Not as bad as you'd think, but we're sick of so many idiots locking themselves out so we're just going with the idea that if they can't lock it from the inside, you're not going to lock yourself out.
