PhuturePriest
How does the seal of Confession work exactly? I know a Priest cannot say "This person did *blank*", but is he allowed to talk about any sins in general people have confessed to him? For example, a Priest is speaking at a conference and says "Nine out of ten people that confess to me confess looking at pornography on average", would that be allowed or does this break the seal? I'm not sure if a Priest cannot say anything at all about it or if he can say things in general like that.
cappie
The priest does not violate the seal of confession by not identifying, or giving anyone a reasonable chance of identifying, the individual and his sins. The priest may talk about certain sins, but he must delete all irrelevant identifying information such that anyone who hears this case cannot have a reasonable chance of identifying the individual in question, or else he should not talk about the case at all.
