Obedience or death, right? That's what our friend Lincoln demanded.

Yeah, they had better be careful, otherwise they're liable to recognizable us all to death.

I love the first picture. I don't know who that guy is, but he is someone that's hard not to love.

 I'm pretty sure they talk about it in the Heritage Room, so I don't think it's a big secret or anything...

Actually, I have always wondered about the Civil War and the various communities. I know that the Georgetown Visitation Nuns shared this comment on their website a few years back during their building renovation:

http://livejesus.blogspot.com/2006/03/tid-bit-of-history.html

That blog entry reads in part:
During the civil war, many of the large buildings in Washington were taken over to be made into temporary hospitals for wounded soldiers. Our monastery was spared thanks to General Winfield Scott, whose daughter was a member of our community.

During the civil war years, we had a number of sisters from the north as well as from the south; when a soldier knocked at the door asking for food, the sister who responded would note the color of his uniform and would call upon a sister whose home was in the north or south, depending upon whether he was wearing blue or gray.
Well, that's wonderful. But these are not Nuns. Nay, they are Sisters. There are massive differences between the two.

The Religious Order Nazi has struck yet again! :paperbag: *Flies off*

OK. No debate needed. I just love seeing nuns in their habits.

Of course there's no debate needed. This goes on without there needing to be a debate. These are Sisters, plain and simple. There's no argument about it, ergo there is no debate that could be spawned from it. I'm actually right for once! :winner:
But really, I know what you mean. I love it when Religious wear real Habits as well.

That was created for their 150th Jubilee, I believe. It's got stuff from all through their history. It's really razzle dazzle. Their poor postulants used to have the WORST habits! At least now they're an adorable dorky outfit. They used to just look
