ardillacid
Thanks for the help Jlol. It probably will be a while before i get back to you on this one. I dont have internet at the moment and my phone takes forever to stream anything, so its going to take a bit of time to go through several bands' discographies

ardillacid
Haha, Jlol you are reading my mind! I was just thinking of this thread today. Was listening to a bunch of MDM while cleaning my apartment today. Today was As I Lay Dying day. They are okay, I'm not a huge fan of the frantic metal. If the drummer is using double bass pedals than it's probably not really my thing. Have you heard of Children of Bodom?
PhuturePriest
"Hardcore" Metal bands just make me laugh. They always have names that have to do with death like As I Lay Dying, and yet when you look into their back-stories you find out things like James Hetfield's mother was an opera singer. Oh how tough his life must have been.
Jesus_lol
of course james hetfield's mother died after refusing treatment for cancer when he was 16, her and his dad being Christian Scientists(hence later songs like the God that Failed). . and his father had divorced his mom and left the family two or three years prior to that. So i would say his growing up wasnt full of roses and happiness. considering your age, imagine if your dad left you a few years ago and your mother was currently dying and refusing medical attention because of the quasi cult she believes in. although, on a scale of one to hardcore, Metallica is super low on the list.
well, i quite like double bass, but am not typically a fan of frantic sounding. many i listen to with double bass are a mix of super heavy riffs and fast but smooth ripping guitar lines. and yes, ive heard of CoB. not a huge fan though outside of a few songs

Winchester is the only one I like. I used to listen to Metallica quite a bit, to answer your question. I don't like the type of Metal bands posted above. I was always more of an Iron Maiden guy. These days I spend my time listening to U2 and Michael Buble, though. A bit of a musical transformation, if I may say so myself. Hubertus
Lots of good recommendations by Jlol; Insomnium was my favorite band in high school. Opeth is probably your best bet when trying to find something like In Flames. You'd probably like Amorphis' newer stuff too, just avoid their late-90s weird jazz period.. What's the best Metallica album?
I didn't say I am a Metallica fan. I said I was a Metallica fan. I don't like their music that much anymore. Besides, as I said, I didn't listen to them by album. I went on Youtube and looked up songs of theirs. This whole thing is petty anyway. Everyone knows Iron Maiden is the greatest Metal band there ever was. Why would I waste my time with Metallica?
Jesus_lol
Eh, Iron Maiden is alright, though i prefer them to Metallica. there are way more talented bands out there.
