So i was in a latin church receiving reconciliation. the preist said say your act of contrition and as i did this he was praying/saying something. by the time i was finished with the act of contrition he said God Bless you or something to that effect. i have never had this priest before. one of the other ones i have had at the latin mass said a prayer and they were still going with the absolution when i finished my act of contrition. although this one was done by the time i finished. so is my confession valid since i didn't hear if the priest said the absolution prayer? what should i do?

Your confession was valid, you don't have to hear the words of absolution. When I was a little kid as I started the act of contrition, the priest would start the words of absolution in latin and we would finish about the same time. Us kids sometimes would try to beat the priest, but he always won. :pinch: Today especially when the words are in the vernacular the emphasis is to listen to the penitent say the act of contrition and for the priest to say the words of absolution clearly.
