Annie12
I am having a really depressing day today, the only reason I am writing this post is to get it off my chest and get some advice. So, I thought it was going good until I was in my school's lobby today and the receptionist answers her phone and said "okay! well tell her to get lots of rest, yeah...yeah" and so it obviously seemed like an ordinary someone's mom was calling them in sick. No big deal. But then her face went pale and she started saying, "she did that all by herself!" "wow, brave girl, brave girl". This sounded a little weird so I kept listening, and she said with a whisper on the phone " when I had an abortion I had to find a nurse down the street that would do it because the near by hospital wouldn't" and she continued "wow brave girl, brave girl". then she mentioned a needle or something. This is when I left the room. I was horrified. My school is really close knit and everyone knows everyone really well. So, this was shocking to me! I didn't know this went on in such a small school community. I feel really immature for thinking that now. In addition to this I got a paper back from my teacher about our lady of Guadeloupe and she might as well have told me to start all over again (its 10 pages BTW)! She made me feel like such a failure. She also told me that I shouldn't be talking about the tilma! I could have strangled her ( not really but it's how I felt). On top of that tonight I have to go to a sleep over at my best friends house and I really don't want to!!!!! I feel like crying! Prayers please. I need them so badly!!! and what should I do about today? Edited April 20, 2012 by Annie12

EmilyAnn
Some days just suck. Pray for the receptionist and whoever it is who had an abortion. Forget about the paper for now, go to the sleepover and just have a good time. Watch your favourite movie, eat junk, whatever cheers you up. Annie12
Thanks you guys! I appreciate it. I just feel sad right now. I feel like an outcast at my school because everyone is so liberal. I also, put the scientific finding of NASA in my paper and my teacher basically said they were not true. She said " and you have to admit that some of those facts were... ya know... sketchy" I will take your guys' advice though and try to not let it bother me! Archaeology cat
One of the best homilies I heard told us that when we're having a really bad day, that's the time to say the Glory Be. I will pray for you.
LaPetiteSoeur
As EmilyAnn said, some days really do just smell of elderberries. I have found that naps, some tea and cookies, and the viewing of a show like Arrested Development or the Vicar of Dibley make the day less awful. If you play an instrument, that helps, too. I go an play the piano in one of my college's offices to get all the awful out!
FutureCarmeliteClaire
Prayers, chocolate, ice cream. Have fun and go to the sleep over. You'll be okay, and I'll pray for you.
Basilisa Marie
I'm a big music person, so I like to sing my favorite hymns to myself, especially ones about praising God. It helps me find some sort of peace after a really stressful or emotional day. Also ice cream and an episode or two of my favorite television shows or chapter of a novel. Just something fun or really just engrossing entertainment to help me get my mind off things for a little while. In college I discovered that naps help too. Who knows...you may not be feeling up to a sleepover now (I know I probably wouldn't either), but it might just be what the doctor ordered. Hang in there, Annie. Lots of us are praying for you. AccountDeleted
Read the book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad, No-Good Day. http://www.amazon.co...tion/0689704283 When I was young, my parents were always talking about going to Australia but year after year it didn't happen, and I guess I built up a picture in my mind about how Australia would be this place where nothing bad ever happened. Then I read this book and it made me laugh because this little boy is having a terrible, rotten, no-good kind of day, and in one part it talks about how everyone has these kinds of days ... EVEN IN AUSTRALIA! And it made me laugh so much. And he was right - I did get to Australia, and these kinds of days happen there too! Just remember that 'this too shall pass' and try to imagine yourself on the other side of it all. Do what everyone says, eat chocolate or ice cream, hug a tree (or an animal), cry if you need to, or if you are of legal age, you could always have a good stiff drink (yes, I know, alcohol is not the solution, but sometimes it is better than chocolate or ice cream, and makes it easier to sleep). And sometimes the things we really don't want to do (like the sleepover) turn out to be really nice after all. Be open to things changing for the better. And hugs for you. Strictlyinkblot
To misquote Julian of Norwich 'All will be well'. You've had a lousy day. I'm in my thirties and I still get shocked by the behaviour of people I know. And its horrible when your hard work gets trashed. The sleepover sounds like a good idea. Chocolate, popcorn, movies, giggling etc. are just the medicine for you. Say a prayer for that girl and for the secretary. Don't be so hard on yourself because you were shocked. Its a good thing to be a person who would never consider behaving like that. Also, just for your paper (not that I'm suggesting that you tackle it tonight) perhaps when you are redoing it you could include copies of the scientific articles to show to your teacher. That'll make it harder for her to accuse you of making things up.

SheisCatholic
Wow! That sounds awful. I have definitely had my share of bad days and they are not fun. I suppose they sort of build you up for the expected crisis in you life (everyone has one). Praying for you! God loves you.
Totus Tuus
I was having a bad day today so I asked my friends to post their favorite funny YouTube videos on my Facebook status. Watching them definitely cheered me up! And obviously, praise God, because praising him and recognizing how great he is makes our problems seem smaller.
