Winchester
I know there's a large degree of the funnies in this post, but I am genuinely curious what the "theft" portion refers to?
Supports our current monetary policy, and has supported stimulus. Inflation is theft.
Aloysius
that distributist review article claims that subsidiarity fundamentally requires that we favor expansion of centralized government over expansion of centralized business. I take a huge issue with that, subsidiarity is opposed to centralized government and centralized business. they also fail to recognize the connection between strong centralized government and strong centralized big business--the two feed off each other, it is a common misconception that bigger government curbs big business. allying with libertarianism on a federal level is actually a very good way to promote localism, subsidiarity, and distributism. while the libertarians we ally with for that purpose may have beliefs that are incompatible with Catholic social doctrines, namely radical laissez faire-ism, that does not mean that we cannot find them as allies within the strong anti-subsidiarity centralized government. I also take slight issue with where authority comes from, because while it does indeed come from God, the Catholic tradition has fundamentally opposed the Protestant concept of divine right to rule, and many suggest that Cardinal Bellarmine's arguments against such divine right nonsense was influential to Thomas Jefferson. the consent of the governed has a huge part to play in the authority granted by God to rulers. the analysis by Mr. Baresel in that article is simplistic and flawed, seeming to argue that Catholics who believe in subsidiarity should not ally with libertarians or voluntarists on the basis that, for some reason, we should be in favor of forceful coercion in big centralized governments. sorry to say, Mr. Baresel, but that is the very anti-thesis of subsidiarity. Cardinal Bellarmine: “It depends upon the consent of the multitude to constitute over itself a king, consul, or other magistrate. This power is, indeed, from God, but vested in a particular ruler by the counsel and election of men†(“De Laicis, c. 6, notes 4 and 5). “The people themselves immediately and directly hold the political power†(“De Clericis,†c. 7). St. Thomas Aquinas: “Therefore the making of a law belongs either to the whole people or to a public personage who has care of the whole people†(Summa, la llae, q. 90, a. 3). “The ruler has power and eminence from the subjects, and, in the event of his despising them, he sometimes loses both his power and position†(“De Erudit. Princ.†Bk. I, c. 6). The government does indeed have the right to compel certain things in the name of justice, it derives that right from the consent of the governed and the power of God, but that government should be at the lowest and most local level needed to accomplish that justice (and I argue that 9 times out of 10 that level is not the Federal Government any more than it's a North American Union government or a United Nations government, the buck needs to stop as at local a level as possible and as this country stands we have 50 pretty well constituted governments that can handle anything some local county or city can't handle.) long story short, I support Ron Paul. mcts
I suppose I'd vote for him. I'm certainly not voting for Romney. I was fully prepared to support the Santorum campaign with full force. I understand why he had to drop out, though.

qfnol31
I'm just curious what would happen if Ron Paul decides not to run and all the other candidates running are as terrible as Obama and Romney. Will people here not vote in that case?
