Lisa
Interesting. Hopefully this renewal will be one of grace and peace for all the communities involved. OnlySunshine
Yeesh, I know some of the women religious are going to be issuing statements about this. They were up in arms when the Vatican ordered the Apostolic Visitation. I will say some prayers that this proceeds as peacefully as possible. I don't want to say anything ugly about religious, but I think this reformation is a good idea.

The investigation was undertaken by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. There was a separate visitation done of individual communities under the direction of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. No public report or response has been issued.
Fr. Antony Maria OSB
Archbishop Sartain will do a superb job at this. I never knew him very well when he was the bishop in my home diocese, but the few times I did meet him, and what I heard about him, both make it seem like he genuinely wants to serve the betterment of the Church at large and the individual members of the Church. He is not afraid of doing what needs to be done, but does it in a manner as charitable as possible. He is definitely a good fit for this situation. I can only imagine what will happen when they find out about this undertaking. LaPetiteSoeur
I think it is necessary to write that just while the LCWR is going to be going through this renewal, it is not right to lump all the sisters who are members of the organization as liberals, etc. Although no one here has done this, I have seen it on several websites today. I also find it is important to mention that just because a religious sister does not wear a habit (or wears a modified one), that does NOT MEAN that she worships "mother goddess" or is totally razzle dazzle with female ordination. (these are things I read on other websites today). The religious order I work with and spend time with belongs to this organization and I have only found holy, dedicated sisters who have spent their lives serving the Church. Lisa
An interesting perspective in the article. I had the same thought when I saw the article connected with a Sister of Life; this blogger considers whether it's a good or bad thing. LaPetiteSoeur
If you all want more news (basically a roundup of articles about the LCWR, CDF, and the renewal process) check out sisternews.net. The website is run by members of the LCWR and seeks to gain understanding of this confusing and painful time.
mantellata
This whole LCWR thing makes me mad. Yes not all the Sisters who are in the LCWR are out on left field and need to be considered under investigation. The LCWR has for so long been so public about their disagreement with official Church teaching. What makes me sick to my stomach was how a few of the leaders of the LCWR, during the initial vote regarding the new healthcare had the gall to include all religious women under their jurisdiction and claimed that they were in support of the Obama administration and claimed they represented all religious women in the U.S. The media didn't even pick up the CMSWR piece headed by Mother Agnes SV and Mother Mary Quinten RSM. I was still in habit then -- and you wouldn't believe the hurt and disillusionment of the regular Catholic out there. People came to us in shock or tears wondering how we could be supporting a health care reform that included abortion and contraception. These times may not be easy but I am so grateful that the Holy Father is actually doing something. The faith of the weak, the struggling, the vulnerable etc... should also count for something. "If anyone allow the least of these little ones to be lost......"
