BarbTherese
I only read a quarter of the article. I plan to return to it. No time to finish just now, but a thought occured to me nonethless. I wonder if The Face of God as He Presents Himself to us is not recognized : in the poor, the lonely and 'untouchable', the needy of any type whatsoever. These are the 'strangers we don't recognize' and walk by. In prayer, possibly the Face of God as He Presents Himself in Profoundly Silent Presence too is 'the stranger we dont recognize' and walk by. We certainly do have many distractions today that meet up to our cultural, social and religious expectations and needs. We recognize them and involve ourselves with them and they can be a distinct distraction from reality, Reality. "No one can see the Face of God and live" Scripture tells us and in one sense this is very true. On the other hand, Jesus presented Himself to us and was the Face of God and was unrecognized largely in His Own Times because it was not that type of face, that type of presentation that was anticipated, expected and needed by His fellow Jews. And so the Face of God as He Presents Himself to me today may well challenge my expectactions and anticipations, my needs, as in the times of Jesus. But am I ready to let go of them and be present to reality, Reality, without those expectations and anticipations, needs, - my cultural, social and religious expectations, needs and anticipations. Ahhh well, I know what I am on about anyway.
