Anomaly
My parents are from Chicago but I grew up in the country near Tampa raised as a catholic in the south. Went to Catholic highschool in Tampa where crackers and blacks were the minority. If had EEO complaints filed against me because they claimed I favored Latinos because they thought I was Cuban and a second complaint filed because they thought I favored blacks when they thought my wife was black. My fam tends to marry or adopt immigrants or any different ethnicity. I'm only second generation on my dads side ( Polish refugees). My moms mom claims hallf her family met the other half when the mayflower landed and relatives just kept coming. I defy definition.

Adrestia
I define myself as a Catholic woman. I have been defined by others as all kinds of things, and I usually give up on trying to "correct" them or change their minds. Sometimes people actually get to know me and change their minds on their own, but not usually. Oh yeah, the original questions:
Are you who you are or feel because of what country you happened to be birthed?
Partially, but only because of the culture of my parents. If I were born somewhere while my folks were on vacation, it would have no bearing on me. I was born in my parent's homeland and raised in a community of people from my parent's homeland who moved to the US around the same time.
What culture section of the country you were raised in?
Mid-Atlantic, East Coast
What section of the country you were raised in?
I don't understand the difference between this and the previous question.
What culture you identify with now?
Jamerican Edited April 18, 2012 by Adrestia
Archaeology cat
I define myself as Catholic, a Southerner (specifically a Kentuckian, though I've not lived there in 11 years), a wife and mother.
BG45
American. Catholic. I don't consider myself a Pennsylvanian after two years, nor do I especially claim to be a West Virginian, because culturally I'm not. I was always raised to be an American first. IcePrincessKRS
Did I miss the point? Pretty much everyone has said Catholic (even Hasan!!!) but me... I thought we were talking strictly about nationalities.... I figured Catholic was kind of a given.
